Louisville fan here.

Let me be the first to admit that I haven't been following your coaching search at all. Literally the only thing I've heard is that Jeff Brohms name was being thrown around at one point.

With Charlie Strong now all but gone at Texas, would he be an option? There's some definite pros to him.

Look at what he did for Louisville. Nothing to Sugar Bowl win over #3 Florida.

Deep recruiting ties in Florida and Texas.

Brilliant defensive coach. Finally got smart enough to hire a good OC at Texas, but too late. His defensive philosiphy would work well in the B1G

Players love him everywhere he's been.

Again, not trying to stir up anything, just wondering if he'd be considered. From the outside looking in, he might be a really good fit. And if he could do for you what he did for Louisville, you'd be pretty happy with that result.

Peace and good luck with whomever you hire.

He stepped in behind Petrino 1 Didn't have to do much building.

Incorrect sir. Petrino left and we had to endure Steve Kragthorpe. Kragthorpe inherited the preseason #6 ranked defending Orange Bowl champs with Brian Brohm as QB. He finished that season 6-6 (his best season at UofL) and did not get a bowl invitation. Never had a winning record or went to a bowl game in 3 years as UofL coach. His overall record at UofL was 15-21. 6 of his 15 wins came in his first season.

That's what Strong cleaned up. He took over that dumpster fire and had UofL beating #3 Florida quite soundly in the Sugar Bowl 4 years later.

I'd take him.

To muc meddling at Texas for anybody to be successful there.

The football coaching position right now at the University of Texas is almost impossible due to the expectations and extremely active and influential boosters. This has been going on since Darrell Royal (RIP) left 40 years ago. The best who could successfully navigate all of the "politics," recruit well, and have "success" on the field was Mack Brown, and even he got tossed out. Patterson's short tenure as AD didn't help either.

On the flip side, getting Shaka Smart was a great move, as long as they appreciate what they have and provide the necessary support. Basketball has been relatively unappreciated at Texas.....drove Barnes mad almost.

Completely agree. There's a few jobs out there that are too big for 99.9% of the coaches to handle. It takes a special breed. Texas Football, Alabama Football, Kentucky Basketball.

We loved and appreciated Strong at Louisville. He did a great job, but we all knew he wasn't going to make it at Texas. That's a whole different animal. Strong didn't have the polish, media skills, or political skills for that job.
