I believe the intent was somewhat noble, in giving players the option of transferring if the recruiting coach(es) leave the program.

However, as is true most of the time, "the road to hell is paved with good intentions", and this is no exception.
Eh. It just looks bad now because a lot of people used their transfers in one year. Things will settle out. People will leave. People will be lied to and be unhappy after they do. That’s not new.

If coaches get to jet, kids should be able to if they feel they made a bad choice or feel they can go to a better situation. I don’t know why people complain about the transfer stuff. It’s worked out pretty well In our favor over the past 10 years.

I remember when Carr first committed to us, looking at the other receivers on our team, I said he’d make a tremendous TE. He played PF in basketball and I said no way is he ever going to see the floor as a pf for Painter. And despite what his dad may have told him, he’s never going to see the floor for Izzo either unless it’s a total blow out. Purdue has had a long history of great TEs. He could have been one of them. He got some very bad advice.

Carr transferred well within the July 1st deadline and any and all grad transfers are getting immediate eligibility. If James had declared his intent to transfer before the July 1st deadline instead of a week into training camp (and 3 weeks before the first game) he's more than likely eligible to play this year.
That is all on James for timing and decision. If he was in doubt, then he should have got out.
Hope he gets cleared, but won’t hold my breath.

I don’t know how serious Miller’s injury was on Saturday but Carr for sure would’ve been our 2nd TE with him down.

Coaching is a career, vs "student athlete" ...
