Per Evan Daniels:

"2018 big man Cart'Are Gordon, No. 41, is expected to announce a college decision today, per sources. St. Louis the major favorite."

Bummer if true. I know Purdue was recruiting him hard for a while. Oh well.

I guess it's kinda cool that he went with the hometown school even though it's not a big time destination. I can respect that.

SLU pulling in some impressive recruits. Goodwin and French in '17, Gordon in '18. And they have a shot with 2018 Courtney Ramey, Gordon's HS teammate.

Under first-year coaches Travis Ford and Rick Stansbury, Saint Louis and Western Kentucky have been the two programs recently that have been getting commitments from prospects much higher than the usual caliber for those programs. Is it great recruiting or are there other things involved that lead to these commitments?

They both had huge recruiting budgets 5 years ago. Their assistants were all driving Mercedes-Benz rentals.

I think Purdue is a great place to be as well, but this was sarcasm, right?

Exposure wise, he'll struggle to get attention. He's ranked around where biggie was coming out of HS. Biggie had a pretty good FR season and didn't get much attention here....

Why does this kid think he's going to go to a small school and will get any attention?

If he's a star for the program, he will definitely get some attention. Not on a P5 level, but the scouts will find him if he plays well.

Biggie didn't get much attention last season? Are you being facetious? He was talked about more than anyone on the team (in the media, other than maybe Hammons) and has been hyped up to be the best Purdue player since Glenn Robinson.

Some of the hype garners merit, but he has a long way to go if he's going to be considered the second best Boilermaker hooper in the last 25 years.

Are you serious? Renting a Benz is hardly proof of a big budget. If you're a frequent renter, and the car is available, agencies will give you a luxury vehicle at no additional cost.

It is, however, a great way of creating the illusion of first class.

Why didn't our assistants sign up for frequent renter programs then. lol
