It's something I brought up with oldboiler on Twitter. Edwards has refused an interview from pretty much everyone reporting the news that he committed to Purdue. He also hasn't posted anything on his Twitter about committing to Purdue.

I understand he isn't obliged to talk, but this is certainly unusual isn't it? Most recruits are so excited about their decision that they willingly talk and show excitement on social media. Edwards' lack of speaking on the commitment makes me question how strong his commitment is. Anyone else feel similarly?

If you look at his Twitter profile, you'll see he doesn't tweet much and doesn't retweet everything that people tweet about him. I'd take that as an indication that he's not a guy that seeks media attention and would prefer to let his game do the talking.

Maybe that's Panter's MO now, just like Biggie. When you commit, you go underground until you just show up on campus.

Rule of thumb:
No social media notifications = weak verbal
1 tweet = soft verbal
1 tweet + 1 instagram = verbal
1 tweet + 1 instagram + 1 snapchat = strong verbal
Repeated and varied social media notices = lock

Lol, like I said, I'm probably just making too much of it. I just find it strange that he won't even do interviews when asked.

To the person that referenced Biggie, even he tweeted "Boiler Up" the day he committed.

He also hasn't posted anything on his Twitter about committing to Purdue.
?
I kinda like this. His Twitter game is quiet. Doesn't retweet everything that anyone says about him.
From what I have seen in interviews, he seems very humbled and grounded.

Why would you bring up anything with that creep OldBoiler52 on twitter? He spends his life stalking and communicating with teenagers in high school and has mostly inaccurate information.

If Simpson still has an offer from us & accepts it, I could see him reconsider.

So OB52's not always accurate. Who is? He's a Purdue guy and I appreciate the info he shares here. He seems to be a lot closer to the process than most of us. Btfu.
Yes but...he spends an awful lot of time texting or tweeting with young kids. I get it he loves Purdue basketball, but there is some kind of limits that people should follow. Even young kids should refrain from excessive tweets/texts/emails with people they don't know personally. JMO

I don't tweet so I'm not hip to how it even works but if it's a way to gather information pertaining to recruiting then it's fine with me. I have no idea if he's crossing the line into creepiness or not. I thought his perspective on the Simpson family and their AAU situation was interesting. It seems he tweets with adults too.

I don't tweet either but there has been a lot of concern over how much he does it with recruits. I'm not saying don't ever do it, just use some moderation. Heck, I wouldn't tweet my grandkids although we do text on occasion. Their lives are their friends and an old guy they don't even know isn't generally one of them.

Tweeting a recruit is so, so much different than texting a recruit. These players have thousands of followers on Twitter; they have random people tweet at them every day. Texting, on the other hand...that's much more personal. I doubt OldBoiler is texting a bunch of these kids.

He used to text them quite often. But I do get your point about twitter.

That is a bit strange. How does one even get a recruit's number? I would think a player/recruit would be a bit hesitant to give a phone number out.
whitepages.com has cell phone numbers. Background checks if you want to pay for them will also reveal things like address and phone. It's really not that hard unless you block people.

This. After working IT security for as long as I have, info on someone is very easy to get. And if you think you have your stuff locked down and secure, trust me....it isn't .

Where's the guy with the drinks & food recipes when you need him? I'll pinch-hit

Since its been unseasonably hot right now, here's a recipe for my favorite cocktail this summer

Old Cuban

Even though summer is waning, it's still sunny and you're hot—what could be better than the icy, minty, rum-soaked goodness of a mojito?

This isn't a mojito. It's close, though—and maybe even better.

Think of the Old Cuban as what a mojito wants to be when it grows up. Suave and urbane, yet with the mojito's summer-busting power, the Old Cuban is one of the finest rum drinks around. A contemporary classic created by Audrey Saunders--she of Pegu Club fame—the Old Cuban is the cocktail to spring on your mojito-loving friends when you want to take them to a new dimension.

INGREDIENTS
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 1 ounce simple syrup (or less, to taste)
  • 3/4 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces Bacardi 8 (or substitute another medium-bodied gold rum)
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 2 ounces chilled sparkling wine
DIRECTIONS
  1. 1.
In a cocktail shaker, place: mint leaves, simple syrup, and fresh-squeezed lime juice.

  2. 2.
Gently bruise the mint leaves with a wooden muddler or the end of a wooden spoon. Add:1 1/2 ounces Bacardi 8 (or substitute another medium-bodied gold rum) 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

  3. 3.
Fill shaker with ice, and shake well for 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass (you may wish to use a tea strainer to remove the tiny flecks of mint).

  4. 4.
Top with 2 ounces chilled sparkling wine; garnish with mint leaf.

Nice!

I'll carry on and let you in on a drink I invented. What do you do when you want a Mohito, but realize you're out of mint leaves? Or you just don't feel like crushing mint leaves? Or when you have one of those friends over who doesn't like crushed mint leaves floating around in their drinks? You go into the liquor stash and see what might work.

The St. Germito.

You take your basic Mohito recipe of lime, simple syrup, rum and club soda over ice, then just replace the mint with something like a capful of St Germain's (to taste). Too much St. Germain's can be overpowering and I'm not a fan, so keep it light just to get the flavor.

I'm thinking he would say something like YOUR A DAMN LIAR. It's just a guess though...

I think he was so pissed that his fingers and rebuttal fury were not on the same page. I've been there before, usually daughter related.

Okay, serious question here.

Is OB52 related to Obi-Wan Kenobi? If so he could be a knight since Sir Alec Guinness was. Every time I see the OB52 sig. it reminds me of Star Wars.

May the force be with him if he is.

I think we need a sport to start:)

Obviously the rumor that he was refusing to talk or provide interviews is wrong.

I'm happy he spoke and I'm happy my inclination was incorrect.

Looking forward to seeing him in gold & black. Boiler Up!

I had always appreciated his insight too...until that last diarrhea-of-the-mouth post. Hopefully he had too many Saturday night cocktails because we could use some more passionate fans like him.
I vaguely remember him by his name only. Can't say as I have ever read any of his tweets/posts/blogs/etc ... so I won't begin to try and assume what kind of person he is. That said, I've "known" Heller on here for quite some time so from my perspective, I will stand by him until proven otherwise.

That and 52's rant on here was a bit off the wall to say the least. Almost like what Heller said struck a nerve. Who knows ... *shrugs*.... like Gemstate said, we need a sport to start.
