Carsen Didn't Start, but 'Played Good'

Carsen didn't start on a team with 5 high schoolers. If all I read was people's perception and not the real stats on sports reference that show Carsen had a NEGATIVE offensive efficiency rating in 2016, I'd assume he was a national poty candidate because he shoots a lot like someone who was on the team last year.

I think that almost everyone here could see how his play hurt the team at times last season, but we can also see that he has the ability to be a very good player for Purdue. I was critical of his play as a freshman, but I have high expectations for him as a sophomore.

You know whats even crazier about this fact is that there are literally thousands of D1 U19 basketball players that didn't make this team or even get a tryout, a team that has 5 (FIVE!) high schoolers, that just shows how easy it was. Quality of basketball players in general must be bad. I mean Carsen and anyone else on this team that didn't start along with every other U19 player that didn't make the team should probably consider never playing basketball again.

Honestly though, WabashRiver, I can only hope this was an attempt at a troll if not, please inform me so I can disregard any post you make in the future.

Don't forget who is coaching this team and why there just might be an emphasis on starting and playing high schoolers...a great recruiting tool to get more one and doner's to Ky perhaps?

As a comparison, check his stats vs Biggie's freshman stats. Carsen is better in just about every stat minus rebounding. I think Carsen will be a great player for Purdue by the end of his career.

Biggie improved drastically, but not enough by his sophomore year to be the #1 option on a championship team. Biggie took 100 more shots than anyone else. He was the #1 option. His offensive efficiency rating last year per sports reference was 5.0 . Compare that to the #1 option on each Final 4 team: Nigel Goss of Gonzaga had 6.3, Brooks from Oregon had 6.6, Jackson & Berry for UNC had 7.5 and 6.9, Thornwell had 9.5.

Carsen's offensive efficiency rating was -0.4 . Purdue can't win a championship unless he's at most the 2nd option behind Vince (6.1). Preferably the 3rd option behind Haas.
