Can we get Good Vince to show up two games in a row?

I think he's been consistently more aggressive lately. I like it. He's a real pain in the ass to defend and I love how he positions himself for the weak side rebound when biggie goes up for a shot. Cut the stupid passes down and he's playing great.

I think he can and will. But better yet, I think we will have another player show up-- Matthias was good but not great last night imho. He could be better. Cline could start to shoot and light it up. I'm hopeful.

Quick look at the numbers--after his goose egg at Maryland, Vince is averaging 15.7 pts over the last 9 games.

I was thinking the same thing. Vincent had a stellar night against Vermont. His energy in attacking the rim early got Purdue going, and he had a monster second half.

The only thing we can really gripe about were a couple lobbed entry passes that got picked off and allowed Vermont to go on that early 13-0 run. Be a little more deliberate in feeding the post, and he's player of the game.

I thought Dakota did what he had to do, especially down the stretch. He hit a big 3 with about 5 minutes left and was instrumental into forcing Vermont into a number of empty possessions late in the game.

Iowa state is a small team. I like the matchup.

Not a big team, but very athletic. They'll be quick to pick off passes. Turnovers will be key. As soon as we cut down on our turnovers last night, we were ok. If we have 2+ more turnovers than Iowa State, doubt we win.

We also have to have an advantage at the line. When a team is overly undersized like Vermont, it's almost not that much of an advantage inside. Iowa State will be 'smaller' than Purdue, but we should be able to bang with them a bit more (which you can't do against guys 60 pounds lighter than you).

We'll know more...today!

For the Boilers, I think the best comparisons to playing Iowa State would be their games vs. Villanova and Notre Dame. Their offenses are oriented in a similar pro-style way. However, they only have Solomon Young and Merrill Holden as true bigs in their rotation (and Holden had a DNP vs. Nevada).

They're solid players (as a true freshman, Young is young and will probably be very good for them throughout his career there) but Darryl Reynolds/Eric Paschall and Bonzie Colson/Martin Geben/Austin Torres are probably more productive bigs overall than Solomon Young/Merrill Holden. Lefty wing Deonte Burton does a lot of the dirty work in the paint for them.
