Or are his outlandish statements part of an actual strategy to win the election?

In his latest foot-in-mouth, Trump says he hopes Russia has thousands of sensitive US state dept emails (full quote below).

For the record I don't think he can help himself...his campaign advisors have to be shaking their heads at some of this stuff, much of which is just throwing pure softballs to the Democrats:

"They probably have her 33,000 emails, too. I hope they do," he said, adding later: "Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press."

1. HRC has repeatedly denied that there was anything work related in the emails. Brilliant work by Trump forcing HRC to admit that her deleted emails contained national secrets.

2. Google: Pentagon Papers. The NYT got a Pulitzer for that.

3. In 1984 Ted Kennedy went to the USSR and actually asked the Soviets to intervene in the election to beat Reagan

4. HRC either purposefully or thru her extreme incompetence handed the emails to the Russians by using an unsecured pda while in Russia as SoS. Aa anyone who has traveled there will tell you...they literally start hacking you the minute you land. Trump is only asking tgat the Russians share the info with the American people and FBI

In short, this is genius

He is genius and will be studied for decades. Attention was taken off Bill and Hillary and placed back on Hillary's scandals. Or he's a loose cannon. Time will tell.

Make that SUPER genius. His superior intellect knows no limit, as he's also proposed a few minor alterations to our national anthem:

There was a Soviet flag on the floor at the DNC last night. Sanders actually Honeymooned in the USSR. What is your issue, that Trump trolled HRC by asking that the Russians leak the emails they already have? Technically they are property of the United States you know. I'm sure the FBI would like to have them as well.

Oh yes, absolutely, you're correct. What sane person could have an issue with the Republican candidate for President openly calling for espionage on his opponent by the most ethical regime in history! I mean, say what you want about the tenets of Putinesque Despotism, but at least it's an ethos! Half of the godless liberals at the DNC are probably nihilists.

If anyone was asking for Espionage...It's Hillary. She is the one that decided to set up a home brew server and put state secrets on it. Everyone knows that they already have the emails, she basically handed it over to them. Trump is simply trolling her by suggesting the Russians should leak it.

Remember when Romney was mocked in '12 for suggesting the Russians are a foe? " The 80's called and they want their foreign policy back". Remember that? What's changed?

Exactly. Trump is simply using his megamind to troll that crooked, little, pant-suit wearing sprite. He's just pointing out the obvious, not calling for Russian interference in his own country's election. I mean, it would be treasonous to do such a thing, and we all know Trump is a patriot who simply wants to make America great again!

It's actually not treason to suggest that the Russians should leak the emails they hacked, which likely contain evidence of actual treason and influence peddling. The FBI would love to have them.

Now, if Trump had actually gone to Russia and asked Russia to interere in an election, like Sen. Ted Kennedy did in 84, there might be a problem. Especially considering Trump is not a Democrat.

Indeed. You are so smart! Almost as smart as Trump himself, but nobody can reach to those lofty heights. Trump is simply on a quest for justice! Truth, Justice, and the American Way - That's Trump! He and Putin would lead the world into a new era of freedom and prosperity!

Why do you think this would force her into admitting that "her deleted emails contained national secrets?"

Why do you think this would force her into admitting that "her deleted emails contained national secrets?"

Because thats what the Dems are implying. Treason involves national secrets, not yoga schedules and baby pictures. Hillary's spin from the start has been that the 33k emails were nothing but mundane personal details. Now they are saber rattling about leaking any of those details, this implies that there is serious shit in those emails (as we all know there is). If she had secrets, and/or she destroyed them after they were subpoenaed, that is a massive crime.

I don't agree and here's why: (a) the Dems could entirely ignore this if they wanted...they aren't ignoring it because it's to their advantage not to, (b) I get your point but there's another "out" which is all the Dems have to say is "Trump shouldn't even hope that a potential American president's personal emails are in the hands of what is essentially an enemy state"...personal emails can contain details that could embarrass the president / country. Also Trump going down this path at all reinforces the idea that he might be tight with Putin, which isn't an association he should want.

Um, it's not forcing anyone's hands. Trump said he hopes they will go find them - they can't hack it now, the server isn't active. The narrative is that Trump is encouraging a not-so-much ally in Russia who basically has a dictatorship to hack American interests.

The issue at hand in the DNC being hacked, which Trump didn't sound like he had a problem with the Russians doing it - and then took it a step further. While to Trump it may have been some attention ploy, his campaign and Republicans didn't find it to be funny. They basically gave a gift to the DNC tonight, which will have a lot more eyeballs than cable news during the day.

In addition, he also said he could see himself recognizing Crimea as part of Russia. And that's on top of the NATO statements already.

Basically, he sounds like a Putin ally at this point. Even Paul Ryan didn't defend it. This guy is a complete blowhard that is treating this like an entertainment event. It's a complete joke.

Oh, and if a Democrat said any of these things - you'd be RIPPING them to shreds.

A. The Dems are freaking out about it because they know there is more shit that they can't defend which is going to come out. They need a defense to feed to their followers, so they are pushing the Russian spin. Its all they have. They are spending all day talking about deleting/leaking emails with sensitive info, which destroys their previous narrative, as collateral damage. They have been skewered. They would rather be talking about Bill's speech.
B. That's a BS argument which will never fly. First, the whole world knows HRC put herself in position to get hacked. Further, there is a clear double standard, when Palin's email got hacked, the NYT actyally crowdsourced digging thru her emails. They celebrated the hacking. Not to mention they have no problem leaking sensitive info themselves when it suits their purposes...ie Pentagon Papers, Snowden, etc.
Lastly, they can't touch Trump on Putin, because HRC/BHO are in deep with Putin themselves (Clinton Foundation Uranium deal for example).

What's there to hope for? That's like hoping Purdue won a football game that you DVR'd yesterday. The game is over, now we're just sifting thru the bloody aftermath.
They either have them or they don't. And if they do, wouldn't we all like to see them returned? Oh, wait...

Neither candidate wants to take a hard line against Russia. I wish they would, but the fact is that Obama has already allowed Russia to take Crimea. There will be no getting it back without war. Trump has said he wants Nato allies to fulfill their treaty obligations and increase spending on defense. This is also the Obama position on this issue, to reduce our spending on defense and shift resp. to the europeans. There is some logic to this as well.

They belong to us, they need to be turned over to the FBI if they have them.

That's exactly my point. If Trump hadn't gone down this whole path today, the Dems wouldn't have a "Russian spin"...they'd have nothing. Now they have something. It was a needless gift.

This is why I think Trump can't help himself...he took an issue that was 100% in his favor, and he went and muddied the waters. IMO it was a politically poor move, although again IMO I don't think it was a "move" at all, I just think he says whatever's on his mind, and as a result I think he's shooting himself in the foot too often. I don't watch a lot of TV really but the only Hillary ads I've seen are just showing Trump saying a bunch of idiotic things. At this point she barely has to run on her platform at all, and given her unfavorables, that's a massive plus for her. It also affects turnout--I think a decent percentage of Democrats (particularly Sanders supporters) and Independents will turn out to vote simply to make sure Trump doesn't get elected...not a vote for Hillary per se but a vote against Trump.

Except that the Russian spin move started yesterday. Today was all about Trump touching them where they don't like being touched.

The rest of your analysis isn't supported by the polling. Her unfavorables are climbing while Trump is gaining.

Thank you for clarifying the timing, I wasn't aware of that, but even at that, Trump then simply introduced some possible validity to yesterday's Russian chatter, an idea that otherwise he could've spun as a defensive nut job left field conspiracy theory. He could've even been bold about it and said, "I would never do anything to put any type of sensitive U.S. info into the hands of another country, certainly not the Russians. I love this country too much. Crooked Hillary, on the other hand, has proven that she is willing to put her personal needs and conveniences ahead of the country's best interest. That's why she can't be trusted and I can be. Vote for The Donald. Make America Great Again." Instead, he comes out and says, "They probably have her 33,000 emails, too. I hope they do."

Long-term you could very well be right about Hilary's unfavorables outweighing Trump's, and even the possibility of Trump winning. Personally I would be fairly surprised if Trump won, though, because I think he's just accumulating way too long of a list of things to easily use against him. If he wins I will fully admit that I misread things and that as somebody said above his style will be studied and all that. But if he loses I think it's going to be looked at as a race that was extraordinarily winnable for the Republicans had they just nominated someone who wouldn't hand the Democrats so many political gifts.

When the GOP is chanting "lock her up", his statement suggesting that if the Russians are gonna leak something, leak the whole enchilda (since they definitely have it), makes sense. The logic is: "hey, i dont know who did it, but if it was the Russians, then ok, why not leak the other stuff too, so we can lock her up for good". I think people get that. No where is he advocating them spying on us , the whole world knows they do that everyday no matter what.,,except maybe Hillary

Yeah-when one has no argument, defense, or counterpoint just mock them instead. Brilliant

Am I supposed to think you think I'm a woman? Or do you think I'm gay? Or is it just all blacks are the same to you regardless of gender?

Which juvenile option should I pick?

Gender, what's gender? We no longer have gender. He's are she's and she's are he's.
We should be all it's. We can all shower together.
One thing I still have a problem with, if we are indeed gender neutral, why do he's want to become she's and vice verse? So by wanting a sex change they are actually implying that there is a difference. Lions and Tigers and Brars oh my.

I've never seen someone so obsessed with gender/sex issues. Got something you want to let out?

Welcome to the Alice in Wonderland world of progressive "thought".

If homosexuality is normal because gender is fluid, and if gender is fluid, then gender there are infinite genders, and if gender is infinite, then gender doesn't really exist , because gender doesn't exist, we must all be gender neutral, but if we are gender neutral, there can't be feminists...but there are feminists...hmmm, problematic.

At MSU the women are mad because they are losing their female study lounge, which is going gender neutral. They need a safe space where they can avoid men (i have no problem with gender segregation btw).

This is what happens when a society can't say no to anyone. Chaos.

In the end, I'm sure that in the end they will find some solace in their shared overarching hate for straight white dudes.

I just wish I could skip forward 100 years till the self loathing strain we are ruled by today have all died out.

Yes I do. I don't want to pay for abortions, birth control or sex changes. None of these have anything to do with women's health.
Or personal rights. Why don't we put that money towards the vets or the REAL people in need. I don't care if a woman gets an abortion, that is her constitutional right. Same for birth control and sex changes. So you understand me this time-I JUST DONT WANT TO PAY FOR IT!

How much am I and others on the hook for with all borrowing done to protect the value of your home and 401k/investments? That's okay though right, society working for you is okay, but you ain't paying for nuttin' you don't agree with!
