On paper, it looks like a loss. All of the weaknesses of this Purdue team seem to be strengths for Alabama. Post defense and rebounds are a huge red flag in this game. Alabama plays three guys at 6’11” in the post and Purdue plays one seven footer alongside a guy 6’8”.

Well, the game won’t be played on paper. It’s being played in Mackey. So, all bets are off and the game comes down to who produces.

Alabama shoots a lot of threes. Alabama is shooting horribly thus far from deep so Purdue has a chance here.

Alabama likes to attack the rim and Purdue thus far has struggled to keep teams out of the paint. Advantage Alabama here.

Purdue is shooting 44% from deep. Tonight it will need for Alabama to continue missing while also have Purdue hitting it’s average on a higher number of attempts. Purdue has a chance here.

Does Mackey add an advantage against a very old Alabama team who just played in the final four? I think it can and will.

The question is, does Purdue have a chance to win tonight? I think it does but the team will really need to step up in areas they have been struggling with.

I personally have this game as a loss but I also wouldn’t be surprised to see this very talented Purdue team win this one at home.

Game will be won in the backcourt...and how well Smith defends Sears. Purdue by 3...
I like our chances in Mackey...

I correctly picked our Boilers in this one...and the backcourt play was the difference, especially Cox.

Yep we can win this. Shoot lights out 3s with assists from TKR & Smith. It's what we do.

But yes, it looks scary in the lane for us against both of our main two team weaknesses.....interior D & rebounding. Just as easily.....it could also be a game that if our shots don't fall or fall at a lower rate than AL-- very hard to watch.

Defenders will rotated. I believe that Colvin and Cox are the best to defend him but won’t be surprised to see Harris and Heide on him too at some points. Smith needs to score a lot and take control of the game. I also think there’s a good chance we see big game fletch tonight

Yes...Cox was the reason Purdue won this game hitting 3 treys in a row during a 13-0 run. Painter has found
another gem...
the future is very bright with him and the rest of the backcourt. Do I say….he may be the best one out of the Frosh class?? And I think this Frosh class could be one of the top ones to come through Purdue….

I cannot think of a Boiler who didn't play very well.....or at least better than they have been(Berg).

LOTS of reasons for this win...not just Cox.
Absolutely but CJ sparked that 1.5 min (or less) run with a barrage of 3s that just shocked Bama…it was a kill shot so to speak. And that allowed smith to get some decent rest too. I loved loved loved the confidence CJ had where he was feeling out that 3rd 3…after that second one you could see he was looking for his shot and def wanted to get that 3rd one up. And I love that painter let the Frosh play like that AND (along with Harris and Colvin) guarded an AA/“one of” the best guards in the country (who will be 4-5 years older than all 3 of them 👀👀) and allowed him down/made it very difficult for him.
