Camden heide to transfer portal

Roster has taken a huge hit with the departure of both Colvin and Heidi…hello Catchings. Playing time is now available for Catchings. So much for FF4 contender…too much lost…no bench strength now. Looking for a new interest during winter…College sports suck big-time!

Purdue will bring in good guys, no way on Catchings.

So much for final 4 contender? Smith, Loyer, Cox/Harris, Benter, TKR, Jacobsen and our new Aussie without the portal being closed? That seems a bit dramatic

Whaaaaaat?!

Lolol if we keep big 3:

Smith
TKR
Loyer
DJ
Cluff
Cox
Harris
Burgess
Benter
West
Portal guy 1
Portal guy 2

Harris and Cox both had an article where they had quotes that made it seem very likely they were returning. Cox is confirmed back but I'd be shocked if Gicarri was next
There has been a post announcing a return for every guy who's actually played...except for Harris. We should be prepared for him to go.

I think we can safely say now that the "PU culture" doesn't count as much as we may have hoped.....Just the way of the sport now.
Money talks, unfortunately….

I see this the same way as Myles- if he lands someplace where he’s guaranteed starter minutes and is a featured element of the offense, he should definitely take the more lucrative pay.

I’ll miss both of ‘em, but I can’t fault either of them.

Another address to send a 2026 Final Four postcard: “…wish you were here!”

One of the toughest part of this year for me was Heide and Colvin being wasted space for so many games. I wanted those two to take the next step so badly that it hurt watching them play most of the year. Did I want them to transfer? Not really. Did they both look better in various aspects of their games towards the end of the year? Sure. But to act like these are program crushing losses is a little much.

The storyline of the season was pretty much, will anyone step up and help Smith, Loyer and TKR today. Some of those games Loyer didn't even show up. It's quite possible that portal adds will provide more assistance than these guys. They might very well go somewhere else and flourish. But both probably feel like they need a change of scenary going into year 3.

Really? How much validity is there to that one?

He was in the same article talking about what he and Cox were planning to do in the off-season to prep for next year.
I saw Burgess and Jacobsen announcing they’re returning, Cox pretty much as well, add in Cluff, Banter and West and we got 6 players on board. Pretty sure Loyer and TKR return, if they get Smith as well that’s 9, likely taking 3 more portal players as of now, hoping Harris returns, not counting on it.

IDK. Why were there official announcements made for everyone but the dudes who are in the portal? It's not that crazy, he is the 4th guard and wants to play more I would imagine.

That's exactly what I was coming here to say. We held out for a couple of years in not playing this game, but it's here and we're not immune to it anymore.

Have to honestly wonder about CMP's longevity now.

Kinda hard to progress when the whole scheme was PNR with Smith and TKR. Can’t blame either Colvin nor Heide to wanting to expand their game. Beside Braden probably only 2 that have a chance to play on the NBA. Based on shooting ABILITY and athleticism, remember NBA is not based on what you have done but what you can do

I agree with this, but I do think we will miss Heide's athleticism & rebounding.

Painter will pivot.

Let's just be honest with ourselves, we originally had a 6 man freshman class this year with one graduating senior. Most of us questioned that decision. There was zero chance everyone was going to stay in this situation. We lost 4 bench guys so far (two of which barely played), and one starter by default to graduation. Heide and Colvin have always had more potential than results. We live in the NIL world and Painter will adjust to it. He's stubborn but he comes around. Let's see how he handles the portal this year after the first time he's had some serious deflections in a while. Why would Painter quit because instead of trying to develop every player for 4 years, he picks up a few polished products to work with?

Painter has always ran his offense around the type of players he has, not been beholden to one type of offense and only recruited to it.
