Swanigan to Purdue...

CMP is due to land a 5*. He's probably put the most time into CS. Has to be something there, the entire Purdue coaching staff was at the state finals for him. He's the perfect fit for this team, he knows he can play the 4 and be the star of this team. At Duke, MSU, Arizona, etc... He could win a national championship that he will never forget. If he wins the National Championship at Purdue, he will be a legend in this state and that's the difference.

I wish it came down to "we're due" and "we put in the most work" but that never seems to matter. I say it's 50/50 but I'm not gonna be shocked either way.

If we lost him to UK, Duke, even MSU, I could understand, I guess.

Cal?!?!?

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH.

Come to the Black & Old Gold, CS. You could become an all-time legend.

Let's see, San Francisco Bay or the Wabash River? Tough Choice isn't it.

Cal is paying Zo a ton of money to put a winner on the court, and last year was a huge bust. I'm guessing Z has a huge amount of pre$$ure to produce beginning this season, and with Alford doing well at UCLA, and the guy from Florida GC at USC, thing$ will happen to make thing$ happen.

It works at Kentucky.

It smells like Cal (isn't it a bit ironic that the names are the same) might be mixing up some special sauce.

More like 25/75, I think. I'll be surprised if he wears old gold and black. Indiana HS players don't seem to really want to stay in state like they used to, plus this dude's got options.

Although, I can't imagine going to Cal when MSU, Duke, and UK are also options, so what the heck do I know.

Football school and football conference. Basketball is not as cut throat as it is in the Midwest, especially in this state. With late games, he will disappear in that conference. Comes to the B1G and he will be on national TV in prime time every week.

Hope you are right.

I agree. His name will disappear in Indiana and the midwest if he goes out West. Pac 12 is in its own little world out there. If he wants people from this area to see him and his potential, he should not go out there. They hardly show or talk about any Pac 12 games or news in the Midwest.

So, which is it? The lure of San Francisco, sunshine, and otherwise great environment ... or ... the kid's getting paid? If the latter, I would hope you have heard something more specific on that than what you shared above, that Coach Martin has "a huge amount of pressure to produce". The reason being, almost every coach has a huge amount of pressure to produce, so that means almost nothing in and of itself. Outside of a handful of coaches (Izzo, K, Roy, et al), there isn't much leeway for the bust season you mention. Unless you've had significant success in March or an ncaa title to hang your hat on, coaches don't have a lot of breathing room. Therefore 75% or more of power conference basketball coaches as feeling "pressure to produce".

+1000. Like location is really a factor for high school basketball recruits. You know, because East Lansing, MI and Lexington, KY are the greatest places on Earth.

Yeah but did you hear the one about the University of Indiana player who transferred to the University of Phoenix because he wanted to play in a warmer climate. It can happen:)

Gotta be Purdue. They're about out of water in California, they'll have to save the shower water and re-use it after each teamate.

Besides, AT Purdue...

...his family and friends can see him play almost every game. Cal, not so much, if hardly at all.

Yeah, it doesn't seem to matter to most kids. Kansas, Arizona, Baylor, Indiana, and OSU all seem to attract top talent without being a hot spot for young people.

My opinion means nothing..... But I'm on record saying Purdue lands Swanigan and I've never went out on a limb or made a prediction........ Cheers
