All I have to go by is the video posted on this site but CS reminds me of Chris Webber of Michigan 1992/1993. CS is 6'9" big and stocky maybe not super fast but has good hands and is a good passer. Also AJ is somewhat like Juwan Howard. It would be interesting to see video of those Michigan teams playing defense with those 2 in the game and compare it with Purdue this year.

Not even close man I'm really not sure if you have ever watched videos of Chris Webber or Caleb Swanigan. Chris Webber could run and jump unlike anything Swanigan can imagine. I know he has lost weight and is working hard but they are not the same players. The closest thing I would compare CS to is Jared Sullinger. Sullinger had better post moves but Swanigan is a little ahead of him in shooting. Caleb Swanigans ceiling imo is Jared Sullinger. Aj Hammons is a very unique player and at this point I honestly have no great comparisons.

Incomparable players. Not similar in the least.

Webber was 6-10/6-11, ran the floor like a deer and jumped out of the gym.

Biggie is a grinder in the post and a phenominal passing big man.

Yeah, Biggie seems to be far more similar to Sullinger and/or Zach Randolph, if anything.
I have to see more of Swanigan to know if this is a good comparison, but he also seems to have some similarities to Draymond Green (who also has transformed his body since arriving at MSU). If he ends up even close to being a cross between Green, Sullinger, and Randolph, Purdue will be very fortunate to have him.

I think Green runs the floor better and has more range on his jumper, but I understand all of the comparisons except C Webber. I see some similarities with Corliss Williamson as well, although Caleb Swanigan is taller.

Looking forward to seeing him in the Old Gold and Black in a few weeks......it's been a long wait.

Time out on this one!!

Webber scored 28 points in the McDonald's All-American game. Caleb scored 2. Webber averaged over 15 pps as a Freshman. I'd be happy if Caleb averaged over 5 ppg this year.

Biggie didn't have more than 1 made field goal in any of the 3 high school all-star games this year. Remember, he moved up a year. In those all-star games he was playing against kids who've had another to develop skill and physically mature. Now, imagine him going up against B1G seniors. You have a drinking problem if you're expecting Caleb to be a big scorer this year.

But Biggie has never been about scoring. He's about winning. You probably focus on the 40 he had in the State semifinals. He was outscored by Cline in the earlier round. Put on your thinking cap and figure out how Caleb was able to beat Cline without scoring prolifically.

Dejuan Blair and Jared Sullinger, I think are very good comps. All are below the rim, but uber skilled. Similar in at least in game style. Overall production, is to be seen. If he is as good as those 2, then we could be very good next year.

I think anytime one attempts to compare one player, in this case one that has not played any college ball as of yet, to others who have, they are indicating more about themselves than the player or players they are talking about.

He's like Karl Malone until proven otherwise...

.....my Jeep.

I've destroyed people's feelings on this board. No one is happy/satisfied. I'm holding every Boiler fan accountable on doing it right way.
I really don't think you've had much impact either way, to tell you the truth. Many folks think you are a bit of a troll and ignore you posts. I find them funny. Thanks for stopping by.

I guess comparing CS to Chris Webber was not realistic comparison considering Webber's ability to run and jump. I was primarily thinking about his size, hands and passing the ball.

I would expect CS to at least be able to score 8 or 9 per game if he was going to start. If he is only scoring 5 per game that means he is primarily just scoring put backs and is not a jump shooter at all. We really need some that can be a threat to score as a starter.
Also to even be considering going on to the NBA in 2016 he would need to be scoring at least 11 or 12 pts per game and have a decent jump shot from 15 to 18 feet away at least by the end of the year.

Looking at him now at this stage of his career, before he ever plays a game, I hope Swanigan eventually reminds us of a healthy Carl Landry.

I bet he averages more than 5 points a game !!

Caleb just lead us in scoring and rebounding in our first scrimage. I think he will score 12 and 8 this year and lead the conference in rebounds.

Not only leading the scrimmages in both scoring & rebounding, but leading by 5 in each category was very impressive. But these were scrimmages. Intrasquad scrimmages, no less. Who was guarding him? Jacquil is probably still less than 100% and apparently didn't play too much. Unless Haas or Hammons was guarding him, he was being guarded by shorter, skinnier guys Vince and Kendall. Not the type of guys I suggested he would struggle against.

I never said Biggie wouldn't be a great all-around player this year. I compared him to Boris Diaw. That's high praise from me. I judge a player's value on winning & only winning. Boris has made the playoffs with each of the last 3 teams he's played with and was a crucial piece of the Spurs most recent championship. Biggie has won everywhere he's played. His Larry Bird-esque outlet passes on defensive rebounds were the thing that impressed me the most in the scrimmages. Those are winning plays.
