This. He heard Burke pitch the job to him last time and he apparently couldn't leave fast enough. He wouldn't leave Tennessee for us anyway.
Of course he wouldn't leave TN for us. That's just stupid talk. But...if he gets canned...why would you not consider him? Because he laughed at our AD's total lack of commitment to football? Have we all not complained about that since Tiller?
Why do people think he is a slime ball? When he interviewed with us, it looked like Charlie Strong was all but a lock to go to Tennessee. I don't think he played us quite as smoothly as people think. I really think he just got lucky that negotiations between Strong and Tennessee fell apart and he just had good timing and fortune. Not sure he is slick enough to mastermind this the way some people think. But some of these reactions look like sour grapes. He clearly took a job with more fan support, better resources, and administration and higher paying - we shouldn't blame him for that. I would have done the very same thing. This just shows he's not an idiot.
Yeah, it was between us and CO, and if I remember correctly we were actually in the lead to land him until TN swooped in. Now yes, Jones drug his feet with what seemed like forever, but from most reports if TN didn't step in he would've been at Purdue. I don't fault Jones for that as it's hard to argue with TN as you certainly have support even if they are a little nuts in what level they think they should be.
Butch Jones clowned Purdue at WC while waiting to decide on a job. He was there recruiting a kid. While there threw Purdue in the trash can to the kid.
What is your basis for saying that? He has not had any significant NCAA issues at his past stops - Cincy and Central MI.

He's not getting fired this year even if they lose out. UT has a retiring chancellor and AD - similar to Purdue's situation last year with Burke. Lame ducks won't do bold moves like that.
Have you seen the mess down there? I'm not sure he finishes the season. Sounds like there's a full on player revolt. Kongbo and Hird (both 5 stars) both supposedly quit after a players only meeting last night. No way do we want Jones. He's getting everything he deserves.
What mess are you referring to? They've lost one bad game all year - their two other loses were to Bama and A&M. They just lost a RB transfer (Jalen Hurd), but any Vol fan will tell you he was the third best RB on the roster this year behind Alvin Kamara and John Kelly. He was also a locker room cancer and had been threatening transfer for over a year. Also his estranged father who lives in CA has recently come back into the picture and has been pressuring him to move to the west coast and change positions. I think most of this is being blown out of proportion. They will be favored in all of their remaining games and would finish 9-3. Not sure what the story is on Kongbo but he is apparently not transferring.
I lived in Knoxville for over 5 years and am very familiar with what is going on. I'm telling you, they have a lame duck chancellor and AD (both are more disliked more than MB is at Purdue) - neither of those two will be allowed to hire a new football coach barring an emergency situation. Bottom line impact for Purdue: Butch won't be fired this year and we should not plan on him being available.
I'm not a Butch fan or hater, but what exactly has he done to "deserve" anything?
I would like to piss on the foreheads of Butch Jones and the Kansas St. coordinator (one of the Stoops from Alamo Bowl Game that kept going crazy in the booth when we were kicking their ass).....they both deserve it and don't want them near Purdue.
