BTT - #14 USC v. #6 Purdue: MASTER DISCUSSION THREAD

Purdue will survive, but good gawd.......Boilers have to play much better, obviously, to do anything this postseason.

76-71 final.....Michigan tomorrow night in the last game of the day.

TKR - 30/7
Cam Heide - 9/11 big boards
Loyer - 14
Smith - 12 and 9 assists
Colvin - 8/5 in a hit or miss game

Furst pulling a houdini disappearing act this last month is killing us. Kudos to heidi tonight and finally a solid game in a CLOSE game by colvin

idk about some of the calls but the bus is warm

If cam and Myles can do that in the tourney, we will be a tough out.

A lot of our success will depend on the match ups. We don't do well when we have to play 5 "Men". Outside of TKR, we have no men. We are a finesse team that depends on shooting and minimizing mistakes. I do think our interior defense gets better next year with JD and hopefully a man from the portal like Lance Jones.

DJ* and not sure DJ fits your description of “men”. This team will all be a year older next year. They’ll grow up no doubt.

Piece of cake you weren’t worried were you? 😀

Agree but like the fact we’ve played already - come out on a heater

The hype for Smith is so undeserved

Doesn’t even look like a NBA level player

Just another no show when they need him

Robbie called him the best pg in the nation, cmon stop the hype

He is a solid college player that needs to grow his game. 3 pts and they need him once again to score and he can’t
Hahahahahahahahahaha. He was doubled all game on the PnR and he still finished with 12 points and 9 assists with 1 turnover. USC forced everyone else to beat them and TKR had a career high of 30. I swear man, ppl just be saying stuff just to say it.

You know what though, who is better than him in the country? Let’s hear it.

Clearly you didn’t. They “out-physicaled” us the entire game. We were lucky to come away with a win. To expect them to have won the rebound battle is not a stretch.
I have no words for you then. If you can’t figure out we out rebounded them, with Heide down the stretch and getting board after board, I don’t know what to tell you.

You weren’t able to understand what was going on in the game and that’s OK. Not everybody knows what they’re watching.

HEIDE HUUUUUUGE tonight with 11 boards!

Colvin with 5 boards (3rd leading rebounder) and defense on Claude at the end.
5/9 from 3s combined.

Smith almost a double double and TKR with 30.

Fletch was super aggressive shooting tonight.
Really was encouraged by Colvins aggressiveness on offense. Didnt hit as many as he would have liked, but to see him making moves around his man was nice. Not sure what's up with all the missed dunks from him though.

It was a good response and finish by the guys. Heide had his best game all year and Colvin played well too. Braden had a bad shooting night, but fletch and TKR picked him up on that side. But he was very good facilitating. Gotta somehow get our defense better and stop all the damn ball watching that allows teams to back cut so much! 😂

Painter was right to stay confident with Heide as he weathered his shooting slump. Purdue needs his shooting threat out there. Offensively, Heide, Colvin, and Cox are providing enough to allow the Big 3 to excel. I would like to see Furst get back to being the inside scoring threat that he was earlier in the year, but overall I am not worried about Purdue’s ability to score.

On the defensive end, teams like USC with their athleticism and talented 1 on 1 scorers are going to be tough for Purdue to match up with, but if they can do a little better on the defensive boards, it will go a long ways. Again, it was nice to see Heide step up down the stretch, probably the difference in the game.
