i know a lot were upset we didn't get him at purdue (i was too)...... and i know he has to pick up the slack with lindsey (SP?) being out the last few games.....

but the last few games i have watched, i think we may have dodged a bullet. he seems to forget (IMHO), that there are 4 other players on "his" team....

maybe i am wrong, but i am not impressed with his constant driving and throwing up garbage.... trying to do it all on his own.

he is a good player..... but who would he replace on purdue's team..... and would he create more chemistry problems?

i may be way off base, as i usually tend to be, but i just want to throw out (up ?) the question.....

For a team that has the record that NW does, they sure take a lot of bad shots or quick shots without trying to move the ball (and the opposing D) around very much.

I didn't see the game, but I can't believe NW could only score 50 against the Illini. Beat Wisky one night on the road, and then loose to Illinois by 15 the following week? Wow. I hope we get this version of the Cats.

I sort of agree. Decent player but not very efficient offensively.

I think it's not fair to judge him so this year. He does not have so much help around him and without lindsey, he feels the pressure to carry the team offensively. As he matures, his game will improve.

To add, however, I wasn't really so impressed with McIntosh. He is a good player, but I didn't think his skills were so vital to our game.

I'd love to see him on the court for Purdue. Absolutely would be a much more effective player in Black and Gold due the cast on the court with him.

McIntosh is exactly where he needs to be. He has always wanted to be a big duck...

If I recall, he was the one driving to the basket and making play after play when NW was at Purdue. His shots might not have dropped in for tonight..

Not knocking the kid. He has an abundance of talent but wants to play on a stage that showcases his talents rather than a bigger stage where he has to compete for playing time and adapt to playing for the team. He made a wise selection for his college career.

I wanted him at Purdue. And I feel bad for the kid what he went through at New Castle. I'm very concerned about what happens in that NW game, especially after the way PU played tonight. The only saving grace is that Painter and the bench got through to Swanigan.

I disagree - think he would have been amazing here with our players around him. Very skilled and can create his own shot. He has a lot of pressure to score on NW and the pressure of his team now must be growing. Wisky game I watched he looked very good.

Yes, he could have been very good for Purdue if he is willing to be a role player. At Northwestern, he is center stage and you know that he is drawn to that.

Very smart and unselfish. I look for him to test the draft without an agent

He is good. He made the right choice for him.
No he didn't. I may be prejudiced but Purdue would have been a much better choice at least basketball wise. Why would you go to a school that literally has never had a program over one that has been historically much better? Now maybe it is because of academics and a particular major like journalism, but for purely basketball it wasn't very smart.

He had the option to go to Purdue and chose to go to Northwestern. He exercised his right to choose and chose Northwestern. He obviously had his reasons, perceived or otherwise. Obviously, none of us agree with his choice for cognitive reasons. Why would you think he would choose to go to Northwestern over Purdue?
You write your own theory. I'd be interested.

His is what he told the indystar:
Ultimately, McIntosh said, it came down to Northwestern and Purdue. One of the key factors was a better opportunity to play immediately at Northwestern.

“You are going to have competition wherever you go,” McIntosh said. “I wasn’t afraid of that and you can’t run from the competition. But Purdue has a lot of guards and I wasn’t sure where I’d fit in for sure. I think I could have, but I had a better idea at Northwestern.”

Scottie Lindsey's back for NW now. He's probably not 100% healthy yet, but he is back.

He's struggled both games back against Rutgers and Illinois, but he's played roughly 25 min each game. I'd expect he'll be more in rhythm next week.....Purdue will have to deal with him among the rest of the Wildcats.

This McIntosh draft talk is a bit like iu talking about winning the NC this year....at least the way they both are playing currently.....Nice for fans to think about, easy to make fun of, and never going to happen.

I didn't really care, TBH. For the most part, I thought Purdue did a good job with their 2014 class (as we now see) and didn't expect McIntosh to be anything more than a solid college player. I didn't think he would be an All-American or anything like that, so it was not that big a deal to me. He's been able to get all the PT he could ever want so far at Northwestern.

Mostly to appease his family that didn't like Crean but didn't want him to go to Purdue. And the Collins being who they are couldn't have hurt.

Why do people care where he wanted to go? He has natural athletic talent, worked hard and put himself in position to be able to choose his college of choice. For those knocking that decision, maybe you should have put yourselves in the position to be able to make a choice like that - but don't knock an 18-year old kid for his decision. Its not like he chose to be in a gang or live in a crack house - he chose a great college and a wonderful opportunity. All the best to him. Having said that, he would be a major upgrade for us at the point guard position.

Some people in this post remind me of stuff we use to make fun of IU fans. While IU is recruiting a player, this said player is the great and loaded with potential. If they get that said player, all the IU fans crow that he's a future All-American and 1st round draft pick. But, if that same player, picks another school, all you see on the IU board is how he's really no good and IU really didn't want him, glad he picked somewhere else.

Well, a lot on this thread does kind of the same thing with McIntosh. You guys can bad-mouth him all you want, but he is a stud.! And I strongly believe that if we had him, last year's and this year's teams would both had been and now would be top-five in the country and obvious Final Four contenders. Do you really think we would have lost to Ark. Little Rock last year with McIntosh at the point, no no way.
