Brian Waddell

I suspect Burgess sees himself as a TKR in the making and stays. He is smart enough to see where he needs to get better to BE a TKR caliber player. Painter demonstrated that he will use that type of player.

Berg probably fits the Matt Haarms mold. He will need to go elsewhere to get more PT. So he is probably going as well.

Doesn't it go to 15 scholarships next year?
yes, but we don't have to use them all. I frankly don't see a reason to use them all. Furst out, West in. Waddell out, transfer in. Maybe someone else too? I do not see a reason to go more than 13, unless we just want to extend scholarships to 2 of this year's walk-ons. There's just no room in the rotation, and that's not unique to Purdue. I think all this is going to do is make transferring more common.

I thought I read it was 15 scholarships but also the roster size was also a max of 15 players. We had 4 walkons this year.

Last week an insider had said that a player had already contacted Painter about leaving. But that no official word would be said until the tourney was over. I guess we now know who that player was. And we also know my source was telling the truth.

As an alum and hater of the portal, I can live with this since he likely has his degree. So, I'll always consider him a Boilermaker no matter where he goes. I would actually love to see him tear it up at a mid-major, but even think he could get playing time in the right situation at a major.

I have a belief he will be like Gillis. And will go to a school for his education, rather than going to a school for more playing time.

I dunno. I think for anyone year run picking up 2-3 one year rentals who want a little money and a chance for a national championship run is a viable path. You can get another big like Cluff, a swing 3 who can drive and play a little bigger than Heide, and a Jones type that can give Braden a few minutes rest and be a secondary ball handler wouldn't be a bad thing. You can do grad transfer for one of them, portal for another one or two. Heide and Colvin and Cox and Harris will all still get their chances and they all know the following season it's literally them as the core of the team with DJ.

Cincy is sort of close. He would have cincy and Xavier. Or UK. I just have to believe he’s looking for a school rather than increased playing time

I was going to say X too but then thought who is their coach, Waddell is not a Pitino jr type player

Cluff could have two years….depends on the JUCO ruling but he played his Frosh and soph at a JUCO.

So if Berg played for these smaller schools that have guys in portal with good numbers, would that be him too?
could well be. But he'll still be limited mobility compared to so many bigs these days. So not what you'd be looking for to fill 1 or 2 spots on a championship contender. Maybe after a another year of playing full time. ?? Maybe we'll see that play out. (for him, not back to Purdue if he leaves)
