We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping us keep what is sometimes delicate or proprietary information confined to this message board. PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Purdue has had a flurry of commitments of late, pushing the Class of 2023 total to 15. More are thought to be on the way.
Purdue has a good range of commitments, thus far.

Remaining priorities are believed to be a tight end and offensive linemen (one or two would make sense). And know this: Purdue is always open to taking a standout—regardless of position.It’s thought Purdue is pushing for offensive linemen Cole Dellinger and Phillip Daniels, as well as tight end George Burhenn.
Dellinger is thought to like Michigan State, which he has visited. The guard also has been to Purdue. And his brother attends LSU, so there is that. Pitt and Minnesota are on Daniels’ radar. The offensive tackle was at Purdue last weekend.
Burhen — who visited Purdue earlier this month — just took a trip to Iowa. But the in-state product may be leaning toward being a Boilermaker and is very likely the next player to commit.
A recruiting dead period began on Monday.
PURDUE FOOTBALL RECRUITING
New wide receiver Jaron Tibbs says he will take It upon himself to try to help Purdue with Cathedral teammates Kendrick Gilbert and Danny O'Neil.
Gilbert is the four-star defensive lineman who just narrowed his list to Purdue, LSU, Kentucky and Iowa. Yes, even with four defensive linemen committed, Purdue would still have room to add him should he want to commit, especially with edge-rusher Joshua Mickens seemingly headed elsewhere.
O'Neill is the heavily recruited junior quarterback who'd seem at this point to be Purdue's 2024 priority at the position, though it obviously remains very early.
We can tell you from having been around Cathedral basketball quite a bit that Tibbs is a really well-liked guy and could help Purdue with some of these football teammates, and certainly wouldn't hurt basketball's case with hoops teammate Xavier Booker, though the likelihood of Booker being swayed considerably by the presence of a buddy who'd be playing a different sport would seem unlikely.
Tibbs committed to Purdue right around the time he might have started getting high-major basketball interest, as Cincinnati was among those who started showing interest after a tournament in Kentucky last week. The MAC was offering him, as well.
He said, though, he realized football could take him farther.
Tibbs will keep playing basketball this summer and play out the evaluation period. That's not to say his decision isn't firm. (BN)
PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING
We'll firm this up tonight when we speak with his father/coach, but our belief is that Jack Benter's Purdue offer is a straight 2024 offer and not the conditional 2024/2025 offer we theorized about, the sort that Sasha Stefanovic came in under years back.
Purdue is a bit unclear on its scholarships for 2024 with COVID year decisions to be made and 2023 over-signing to maybe be done. Beyond that, point guard is viewed as a must, and Matt Painter's M.O. has been to take a big in every class (if possible).
Now, with Purdue standing a great chance to land wing/combo forward Kanon Catchings and now 2-guard Benter, things get sticky.
We do believe that Purdue has been the offer Benter has wanted. That belief goes back months, and was part of the reason we think Purdue had to be really deliberate here.
A quick decision from Benter would not be surprising, but we don't have any firm reason to belief anything is in the works at this point.
But this is an ideal fit.
PURDUE BASKETBALL RECRUITING
First off, a reminder that Purdue's scholarship landscape in complicated for 2024, but point guard is a necessity.
Travis Perry was a Purdue priority but if that Kentucky offer he just got endures, then Purdue will not be getting Travis Perry.
We will say that Purdue has watched 2023 Markus Burton enough to suggest some gears are spinning there.
Burton may not be a traditional point guard, but he's suited enough for the position to maybe check that box for Purdue In the 2023 class should space become available, or maybe even in 2024 if he'd be willing to do a post-grad year. That's just us speculating, but it would make sense, and Burton for some reason has yet to receive a high-major offer.

PURDUE SPORTS
We hear that a Purdue collective is being formed and more information about it should be available in the next few weeks. It is no secret that Purdue has a solid support base in Indianapolis, so expect heavy involvement from folks down there, but it will be a nationwide effort. Much work has been done to ensure all the I’s are dotted and t’s are crossed as this is new territory for all involved. (AK)
