I was just watching part of the Maryland game and a thought for discussion came to me.

Would you rather see Purdue play in a lesser bowl against a lesser team and have a blow-out victory like Maryland did today ???

or would you rather see Purdue play a tougher team in a more meaningful bowl game and lose?

my personal thoughts are if the bowl game isn't a new year's day bowl game, they are all basically the same . and i'd rather see purdue in a blow out victory like mayland had today, than a disapointing loss.

Play a tough team. I would rather lose to a team like Tennessee than play a crap team in Detroit

Honestly, with two VERY significant opt outs + players not traveling with the team for one reason or another + COVID gumming up the works generally, I’m not sure there’s anything you can take from many bowl games.

All things being equal, if I were Purdue, I’d want a thrilling game like Tiller’s bowl against K State (even if the comeback didn’t work) vs a blowout over a much lesser team. People remember good games and respect an underdog who was right there more than a team that blows out directional state U.

Vol fan here (I come in peace). Like others have said, if it's not a playoff game or major bowl, nobody is going to remember what bowl you played in next year., What they will remember is what your record is. Quite honestly, I'd rather be paying Rutgers or Memphis State in any bowl than Purdue in the Music City Bowl. A win is a win.

Well, Va Tech isn't supposed to be a "lesser team." I get this wasn't a vintage Frank Beamer team and that they're in the midst of a coaching change. But that was pretty bad. Maryland is no world beater.
