Blough is the 5th qb to look like Caleb terbush under shoop. 5th time a charm?

I think what we need is to go 3 wr right...? With me? Line two up one behind each tackle... Then motion one diagonally until he goes to the concession stand 45 degrees behind our center ... Then read option to the fullback... What do you say?

To those who wanted a qb change, guess what? The qb ain't it.

Blough is far better than Apple. But he is not good enough to get it done at Purdue under this offense, among the worse designed playbooks of all time. It really is that bad, so while I wouldn't put it on the QB today completely, he is exposed after today. He played so bad today it is even hard to know how much of it was his fault, but the QB change had to happen. Apple was not winning nothing this year or next period. At least get the other guys experience, because someone is getting fired this year. It is either going to be Hazell or the AD. This clearly has to happen after this the third season of utter disaster. Not just because we are getting utterly humiliated out there, but too the digression from one season to the next. The only thing we got better at is being worse than bad. Before we were just bad. We went from bad to downright horrible. And from horrible to downright laughable.

See you're going the blough v aa route. The fact is, we don't know... Because within 3 weeks they made blough look worse than aa did. Is your comparison fair? Blough when nobody had tape on him v. Aa when shoop had done the magic he already did with Henry and etling?

How would you know what AA is? Shoop tried to run the read option with him! Shoop tried to make Henry a pocket passer!

I'm not saying I know who is better. I'm saying both came here with something to offer and nobody f-ing knows how good either is. I've wondered if this idiot could make brees look bad.

Apple's release is so slow that you might as well kick it to the receivers. Blough has skills though today a poor showing. This is just his 3rd start. He still has 3 years to play. Apple has one. Why would we want to waste a year developing the younger more talented crop for a 1 year return. Apple had his chance all of last year mostly and it wasn't there. This year came out and laid an egg. If Hazell is fired at the end of the season I'd bet top dollar next year that Apple is 3rd string or maybe 4th and at worst Blough would be second string to the Kentucky Kid. But I agree that with this coaching staff there is no way to know anyone's true talent out there. Because this is such a poorly designed offense. If I was the coach and I had no idea how to run an offense I'd at least copy Baylor, or Oregon plays. Can't our coaches be at least good enough to copycat?

You're clearly a "he's my guy" poster.. I'm imagining there's at least a chance etling was your guy and much like those who will defend hazell because they hated hope.. Appleby can do no right.

Here's what I'm telling you... Appleby had a "chance"? That's cute. When people who don't know better watch sindelar in the spring game coming off SHOOP "SHOOPING" blough for 6 more games and they are arguing with YOU that blough has had his chance and looks bad... I'll be saying Nobody knows if shoop is still our coach.

Because shoop is on his fourth guy where I've watched a game and had Brandon hance creep into my mind. And I don't buy that any of them save perhaps Henry are nearly as bad as shoop made them look.

If you think I'm saying I want Austin back I don't. I'm saying until shoop is gone we'd probably need Jared goff for shoop to not look like a moron.

So prepare for blough to look worse than he is. Because I'm not buying that Appleby wouldn't be fine with 05 norm chow coaching him.

My high school football coaching buddy and I have talked about this a lot. We have come to the conclusion that this coaching staff in general and Shoop in particular are as bad at understanding their players talents as Tiller was good at it. Tiller was masterful at understanding what kids could do and then putting them in a position to excel. These guys appear to do just the opposite. Blough looked terrible today and the kid is a nice quarterback. With Shoop's continued guidance, he will soon be an average D-3 quarterback.

I think all of these players, who have decent but not great talent, doubt themselves because they are being used ineffectively. It is very sad to see this team get worse year after year.

Now overall team talent is also an issue, and recruiting has not effectively addressed this.

It is just a mess, isn't it?

No, our qb's don't transfer to D3 schools...they go to SEC schools like LSU.

Ok but here's my thing... To make these stooges look good wouldn't you need the kind of game breakers that only money can buy?

41-13, at home, & by either the 2nd or 3rd worst team in the B1G, is proof enough for me. This season is lost, & Hazell definately has that "deer in the headlights look". Why this season wouldn't be Hazell's last at Purdue, unless he can pull 3 conference wins out of his hat, is beyond me. Questions still abound, who's proven/probably better, that we can get now, or at season's end? If we pull the plug on Hazell now, will/can our next head coach get the recruits he needs? Probably not, this late in the season, but if we get the right coach, just maybe it's not too late to salvage next season, & a head coach who can recruit & coach, at the same time.

This shouldn't be taken wrong, but [& I'm not an IU fan] is IU's offensive coordinator [Kevin Johns?] available? Head Coach Wilson can definately coach, & their offense is pretty good. If I were Burke & co., I'd definately consider talking to [Kevin Johns] the IU offensive coordinator before season's end.

He's there as a favor to the family by their friend Cam Cameron. I'd be shocked if DE ever plated at LSU.

Cam Cameron isnt going to give a kid a scholarship as a favor when he only has 1 year left on his contract at LSU. He doesnt have that kind of sway or they would have extended him by now. He also was offered by Arkansas. He was a 4 star recruit who was a true freshman and played on by far the worst purdue team talent wise. I mean hell they only beat Indiana State by 7 that year with Rob Henry. I think it should be clear by now that this isnt the quarterbacks fault. This falls on the coaching staff. How can 3 consecutive years in a row you start with one quarterback and bench him by the fourth game? You are either consistently picking the wrong guy or you are trying to use the qb as a scape goat for your crappy coaching.

I'm waiting until Ettling wins the Heisman at LSU to confirm this staff can recruit talent.

You are right. This staff is a joke. They take a qb and start him at the beginning of the season and things don't work out so they go to the backup. Its the same old crap every year. Shoop doesn't know how to train these qb's. He is taking them and driving them into the ground. It is a shame.

You hit the nail on the head with the con. The whole QB change reset garbage.

Don't prepare your team right? Don't execute well in terms of scheme? Lost? Not good at your job... just switch QBs 4 games into every year or so. That way, maybe you can sell your ineptitude as "the new kid being lost"

The QB change was a very refreshing thing to see. Let the younger guys get reps. Now on the other hand, it is without question that this coaching staff hasn't got a clue. And because Burke went into this arrangement with Hazell flaunting very poor negotiating skills with his hat in his hand, we are in the situation we are now in. Which is why he needs to be either fired or forced into retirement this year now and the Board of Trustees needs to make a decision on his replacement with a very very well thought out selection of someone whom has the proper football knowledge background needed to evaluate a football coach and understand what traits that somebody needs to have in order to win. The current coaches clearly do not have the skill to coach a college QB or run any part of this squad whatsoever (we are pathetic in all categories). When 11 starters are out on a mediocre squad and they come into your stadium with the 2nd worse offense in FBS and embarrass the home team this is time to fire people. I mean we are up against Michigan level. What kind of AD is going to give this guy a long-term contract with an unproven short term track record? We need quite clearly an athletic director who himself has a football pedigree with the academic qualifications and character to compliment the whole package. We can't come out with a swim team guy, as we are now, because he simply cannot relate to the problems and needs of which it requires to compete at this level with these other schools. At this point I'd put 90% of the blame on Burke, 9% of the blame on Hazell, and 1% of the blame on the players.

Again, I'll stand by us not knowing how good any of these guys are.

A good example of that is John Fox. The Bears have few playmakers. And yet, you look at the difference when Trestman left and in came a guy who knows you to very effectively coach the solid aspects of football. I'm no Appleby defender. It's not just Appleby.. do I definitively know that Danny Etling is bad? No...

As long as we agree that the coach and AD are not good.

You are correct sir. Burke does deserve blame for the mess this football program is in. He has made some bad choices with the recent coaches. Its too bad that he still has two years left before he retires. I do blame Hazell some too though. He should have never applied for the Purdue job. Way over his head.

Regarding the opener ...

No. 6 in Purdue career passing percentage (.595);

No. 12 in Purdue career passing touchdowns (25);

No. 16 in Purdue career passing yardage (3.077);

Signed by Arizona Cardinals ...

I’d love to have had any of our last five quarterbacks look anything like Caleb Ter Bush.
