Biggie's first Summer League Game....

....and 8 rebounds first quarter.

Right on pace.

It was nice for him to show the other teams in the NBA that he should have been picked higher.

I do think he deserved to be picked a little bit higher but this was one game. Look at boxscores from other summer league games and you'll see one multiple guys putting up good stats who won't sniff a NBA roster. What Biggie did was great and I think it will keep happening but there have been quite a few summer league stars to have zero impact on the NBA regular season.

Nice to see the Portland fans realizing what we all knew Biggie was bringing to the NBA.

Reminds me of T-Rob. Hopefully his finishing improves.

This kid is going to be popular.

2 young potential bruisers with him and Vonleh. Hope he becomes our Draymond Green like vocal fiery intimidating force. One more year before Nurkic gets more money than he can spend, and potentially loses some work ethic, this year can be a pleasant surprise if the wings can be consistent.

Hopefully will turn out to be like a Calvin Natt, Buck Williams, Lloyd Neal type.

Knew this guy was a serious competitor when he answered a question by saying that he takes pride in his blue collar work ethic. Look where he came from, his stepdad that raised him. He's humble and hungry and focused. We're all rooting for this kid big time!

Love this kids game and attitude. Portland just may have a diamond in the rough.

Hoping for no serious injuries. Is that asking too much?

I don't see Biggie becoming a "Draymond Green-like vocal force." He's a lead-by-example young man who doesn't let flash and trash talk distract him.

Biggie's two years here made me a fan for life. Portland, you have a gem.

I think Biggie is a player who will be fiery behind closed doors and realizes there is a time and place (usually the lockeroom) for that stuff so it doesn't become media drama.

No, but Draymond is a fiery leader in the Warriors locker room. Biggie is certainly that.

Update from Spurs/Blazers game: Portland trailing handily midway through the third quarter, but CS having a good game so far......17/9 on 8-11 shooting (1/1 from three).

...and this would be the game not on ESPN...lol! I may have to break down and subscribe to NBA this year if it looks like Caleb will get much PT....Can hear my hubby now lol!

What were the final stat line?

Game still on - He's clearly the most productive player for the Blazers. 19 & 12 with a couple minutes left

My favorite play so far was when Bertans tried to block him out on a free throw and ended up on his ass out of bounds! The announcers were confused about what happened, but they obviously didn't watch much boilerball last season.

Biggie and Bertram just got a double technical but only following on plays...couldn't see what happened

Some interesting tweets:

Biggie and Bertram (Bertans?) sounds like a new Sesame Street bit. They could use Biggie's boards to help with counting numbers over 10.....and explaining the concept of double.

Double/Double (Biggie)
Double Technical (Biggie and Bertans)
Double Foul (Biggie and Bryant)

A buddy of mine is a Blazers fan. He messaged me when they drafted Biggie, but it was more of a "What's this kid like?" message.

Since then he's been texting me after every summer league game. He can't stop raving about Biggie's motor, his toughness, and his skill.

When the dust settles, I don't think Biggie will be a League MVP. But I do believe he'll end up one of the top ten or twelve players in a loaded draft. Teams are going to rue the day they passed on him.

I have watched a lot of summer leage highlights of different players through the first three games. Biggie and Dennis Smith Jr., and D. Fox are the most impressive I have seen (in no particular order).

Fox has impressed me going back to last year with Kentucky...kid can really make some plays. CS has been impressively solid so far, I agree.

I am not sure why people are surprised he is dominating the summer league. It's against a lot of the people he dominated in college, so why wouldn't he keep up the same double/double statistics? The summer league isn't an accurate predictor of success in the NBA either. I am sure he will do well, but none of his current success should come as a surprise. Could be an NBA journeyman with his skill set, just needs the opportunity.

I agree that he is playing against a lot of the same competition that he faced last year, but there are a few guys he's played against that are out there from a few years being graduated that were stars and that just want to make a point for the new team they are playing for. But the biggest reason that I am surprised is because a lot of the guys are just super greedy ball hogs trying to showcase their skills and don't really care about playing team ball. This is basically a try-out. Biggie is fighting for every rebound and point he can get in there and making it look normal while being very humble in his interviews. He's had pretty nice 3-point touch from the top of the arch that he didn't have from that range last year as well.

I do think his humility and high motor combined with his rebounding can translate to the NBA game. Not many guys have that.

The biggest knock I have on Biggie is that he is not 6' 10". Since he is not, I think the poor guy will only be an NBA starter for the next 15 years.

His standing reach is better then some 6'10" players though. Height can help with vision for passing and shooting but for rebounding reach is where it's at.

I was being a bit sarcastic. There were many ballplayers under 6'8" that grabbed double figures in rebounds. I think that if Biggie was listed at 6'10", he would be a top ten pick. I stopped watching the NBA, because it is all about ballet moves and looking good. This is obviously what the GM's look for. His ballet moves will stop Biggie from being a superstar, but he will start for 15 years.

Add Jayson Tatum in there.

Swanigans 13/11 looked good tonight. First game I watched all the way through but he more than looked like he belonged there.

Las Vegas Summer League Title Game: Caleb Swanigan and the Trail Blazers vs. Lonzo Ball and the Lakers at 10 tonight (ESPN). The Lakers have the bigger crowd but do the Blazers have the chutzpah to pull the Biggie upset?! (bad pun intended)
