one. Getting more athletic, but still skill heavy, the versatile motion offense and playing time have served Biggie well. He can play to his strengths and showcase his hands, passing, vision and understanding of some little things in an offense that is structured rather than some helter skelter offense...and one that he is a key component. He had a great game today and the kind of warrior approach to the opposition that I like. Mentally tough...

He had a great game today. But this praise that he made the right decision? Sure, it was the right decision but it was also the obvious one. Unless he becomes much more consistent offensively and improves on some things, he probably still won't be a first round pick after this season. He's still a turnover machine (averaging almost 4 per game) and the level of competition will only get better.

I was not saying he was a lottery. I said it was the right decision and it is working well for him and believe what I said to be true...no more..no less

Just to clarify, being drafted in the first round is a guaranteed contract (second round is not). A lottery pick is a top 14 pick. Thus, unless you have hit your peak or desperately need to go (for whatever reason), usually it's best to wait until you are a first round pick to leave early. Granted, many kids do not listen to such advice!

I was happy to see Swanigan step up yesterday and play well, but he still was pretty sloppy with the ball and better defensively (hardly great...although against a good player). He's a beast on the boards for sure. Last year, teams put a lot of focus on Hammons and I the teams that scout well will put a lot of pressure on Swanigan. He struggled mightily with that at times last year (including the Crossroads game), so I look forward to seeing how he does with it this year.

for my clarification...I do not equate first round, second round or lottery with the right decision. The right decision was to go to a school that fit your abilities (skill over athleticism) the best, the position projected for you to play wih the opportunity to play that position that showcased your abilities as well as any outside basketball things. I do not see results (getting drafted or not where you wish getting drafted) as validation or a direct correlation to the opportunity that did or did not work out. I have yet to see any perfect correlation with repeated measures and without repeated measures it may just be a mathematical thing, still unlikley concerning anything in life. Even the best teaching pedagogy doesn't always produce the results desired. With that distinction from my view, were my comments about "right decision" absent any reference to pro results...only because I don't equate them. Others may, but I can't and so the need to understand (NOT AGREE) with my previous comments about right decision much closer tied to opportunity than end results.

Remember he reclassified and essentially would have been his freshman year

He's really becoming a very good player on both ends of the court and I think that he has the mentality to be very good in the NCAA tournament. It was fun watching him on Saturday. He obviously has been working very hard on all aspects of his game and his body, despite the turnover numbers still being higher than we would like.

Biggie demonstrated and I said it at the time his warrior mentality when he committed to the Boilers and wanted to make THEM a championship team. MSU was loaded and he could have been like others wanting a stacked deck, but he wanted the odds to beat as well as the opportunity. Last year he was more than willing (too much at times) to take the big shot. This year he has Carsen to help...and it is starting to get contagious which can be a very good thing if tempered to a degree. I love Biggie's work ethic and that too carries over to other team players. His game Saturday was GREAT, and so was Vince's... :)

I'm guessing he wanted to make any team he chose a championship team. I'm thinking the real reasons he chose Purdue were AJ and Isaac.

no question those two were heavy! Probably said not very well, but my intention was to say he unlike many others did not feel teh need to go to a stacked team to be good as he would make the team he was on good. He has that much confidence.

Well if he wants to make Purdue a championship team, he should come back next season. We could be a monster with him (and everyone else) back next year.

true, but we also know his motives to take care of his family. I think he leaves this year, but will give it his all every game. I think the love of family and to take care of his family is greater than staying another year. He wants to make it happen this year I suspect. Still, as you said Purdue would be outstanding if he came back...but then we have those minutes to spread out and potential discontent.

I'm all for him going if he's getting guaranteed NBA money. Makes all the sense in the world. Would be stupid not to.

If he's not in that range then I think it makes far more sense for him to come back next year, improve even more as a player, compete for a championship, and try to finish that degree in 3 years. In fact, that is what I would tell my own brother or son to do even if I were in a position where they would be taking care of me whenever they do start playing. That degree will have value 15 years down the road if he's lucky and healthy enough to play that long professionally.

I'm leaning to him getting guaranteed money, but perhaps not? He has Rosie... fully aware of the situation and better than probably 99% of the people to advise in this scenario. Boy would Purdue be loaded wiht playing time only being the issue
