Looks like Torvik was juuust a tiny bit off on those projections.So his default is the Torvik ratings to determine who wins future games. Of course the point is to pick winners to figure out the scenarios. But using the Torvik default, Michigan actually finishes 13-7 and loses a tiebreaker for 6th to Illinois.
Purdue finishes 18-2 in that scenario.

Just messing around with the remaining games, I have Purdue as a 5 seed playing against the winner of Minnesota/USC.
