Big Ten needs BIGS!

All the BT teams except Illinois, Michigan, Michigan St, Ohio St, and Purdue have front courts, 13 of the other teams are desperate for front line players and the Portal is drying up with quality Bigs. Three teams might be done shopping, Northwestern, Ohio St and Purdue. Half of the league has less than 10 filled grants. Michigan, Illinois and Maryland probably will be hurt by the NBA draft! As of today, 1035 players have entered the Portal with only 411 committed (40%). The Portal will be a loser for most of the players in the Portal, K-Mart blue light specials will start to happen as players look for a bench to park on for next year! There are only a few gems left.

Waiting to see what DeVries goes and gets to play the 5. Though i assume Reed Bailey will see time there. At one point the league had the two best players in the nation in Edey and TJD. To go along with guys like Dickinson and a few others. League just isn't in that spot now but it isn't exactly easy to replace dudes like that. That season was the year of the big man.

Huh... Funny. Yet averaged how many assists a game? Wild. I don't know why Purdue fans struggle calling players of other teams good.
Remember it's a Purdue board Bank. You're not going to find praise of any IU player here. These arguments belong on national board if that is what you are looking for.

Happy Easter!

Does TJD still have the Zorro “Z” carved in the side of his cranium? They do not show him much now during Golden State games.
I couldn't tell you. I don't watch the NBA until it's playoff time and Golden State games are on too late for me.

It's still absolutely goofy. No less goofy than IU fans trying to put down Edey for being tall. Just absolutely goofy.

You once again come on a PU message board and interject IU into it. Then you wonder why posters on a PU board get tired of your act and make fun of you, your school and your players. Self-awareness, it's a real thing........
As another poster suggested, find a national board and post your IU thoughts there. Keep posting them on a PU board and you will continue to be given crap about it. Don't act surprised.

The thread is about the entire league.

Your act is old. This board is PU fans talking about PU and college basketball. The very first post after the thread was started was you talking about IU. It gets tiresome. Then you act "surprised" when PU fans get tired of you talking about IU on our board. This shit would never fly on the IU board and that is why we get tired of you here. Don't act like you don't know why you're called out on it.

Not a ‘Z’ —hair doesn’t grow there— a scar from a fractured skull when he was four years old.

Back on topic—because of NIL there’s going to be some massive talent gaps between the haves and have nots next year. PSU, NW, Nebraska, Rutgers, and Minnesota will be really hurting across the board.

I guess that explains why he couldn’t use his right hand. Bless his heart though.

We dont.
He was good.
He wasn't one of the top 2 in the country. (Edey was)
I don't know why iu fans struggle calling their own players what they are and not overrating them drastically.
We "get it" from iu fans winning EVERY off season national championship, but c'mon man......

Actually it does. How good can he be if he didn’t help his team win? Anybody can score a bunch on a bad team. Good players make those around them better and TJD never did that.
If you agree that Mike Woodson was a really bad college basketball coach; TJD got a Mike Woodson coached team up to an NCAA appearance with Kopp, Xavier Johnson, Race Thompson, and Parker Stewart starting, and with Hood-Schifino carried IU to a four seed. That's pretty remarkable with Woody as coach.

Kelel Ware was a top 20 pick and will be an NBA all-rookie first teamer, and he couldn't carry a Mike Woodson coached team into the tournament at all. Woody couldn't win 20 or make the tourney with the PAC-12 All-league team (lol) either.

TJD didn't win titles but without him Woodson would have won at a pretty friggin pathetic rate all four years. Hell, I guess that IU fans could actually blame Trayce for Woody winning enough to stay around as long as he did.

Well finished 2nd in the B1G, got a 4 seed and made the 2nd round with Mike Woodson coaching. That's pretty impressive.

But you all thought you had a national contender when TJD came back, and it wasn't even close. So best of his time at iu but not top 2 players in the country. Very good complimentary player.

I can't speak for all, but yes; I thought IU would be a national title contender, and in real part because of Trayce.

That year Trayce was one of the four national player of the year finalists, and carried a Mike Woodson-coached team significantly farther than any other Mike Woodson coached team. They were a 4 seed - that's top 16 teams going into the tournament. Lost to Miami which reached the finals; it is what it is. I don't speak for the whole fanbase (and every fanbase has their crazies) but for me TJD was an extraordinary college player; not a complimentary player, but the staff and scheme kept them from being a national contender. With Painter or a similar quality coach coaching that IU roster instead of Woody it likely would have been much better (duh).

sorry, no. Nice talent but when did he ever carry his team to a series of big wins? Dominate in a marquee matchup? Most of us thought it silly the entire season how much press he got for dunking (and posing) and how little he ever actually accomplished on the floor. Seems like a nice kid. Loved his dad. If the kid had 1/2 dads toughness you'd have had something.

It wasn't just Woody. Didn't TJD have 3 coaches during his stay at IU? His junior year, Woody got him to play within the team concept. The next year, the wheels fell off again. Was he playing for the scouts?

Two coaches—Archie and Woody. And TJD was really good his junior year, but he was even better his senior year, as was the team.

Ok.

He had better individual stats under Woody's tutelage, and the team had one decent-but-not-great year under two different coaches. For all of his talent as a college player, his leadership skills were abysmal.
