Alright, so being tired of hearing about Keita Bates-Diop every game by Dakitch, and hearing about how he is the best Big 10 player, and makes it seem like its not even close. Not only him but other announcers, and pundits concur. Lets look at the number shall we?

Keita Bates-Diop, then VinceE, Miles Bridges
MIN FGM-FGA FG% 3PM-3PA 3P% FTM-FTA FT% REB AST BLK STL PF TO PTS PPS
31.9 7.4-14.3 .517 2.1-5.2 .398 3.0-3.7 .797 8.8 1.4 1.8 1.2 1.9 1.8 19.8 1.38
30.1 5.1-10.8 .487 1.7-3.7 .462 2.9-3.4 .838 8.1 2.8 0.7 0.6 2.0 1.9 14.9 1.38
29.8 6.3-13.4 .471 2.1-5.8 .355 2.3-2.6 .878 7.2 3.1 1.1 0.5 1.6 2.1 16.9 1.26

My takeaways KBD is a better 2 point shooter, better blocker, and takes more shots than Edwards, and plays a few more minutes (OSU doesn't has as many blowouts as PU) Edwards could have feasted on the "easier" teams had he played 30 minutes ie... vs Chicago state, and thus ran up his stats too. Painter does not do that however.
Vince Edwards is a better 3 point shooter, ft shooter, and doubles KBD's assits. He spaces the floor better, and has a less usage rating because well, he doesn't have to be "the man" every game. Their PPS is the exact same, and I see Vince only trending upwards as he always does, and who knows about KBD.
My conclusion, KBD is NOT the runaway mvp of the Big 10. It's very close between the two.

To me, whoever wins the league SHOULD get it between the 3 you listed if those numbers stay consistent the rest of the way.

The media love affair with Bridges and MSU, and Bates-Diop being the trendy new contender will make it tough for anyone on Purdue to get it even if they win the league IMO.

I'll add that Carsen should be right there 2 if he keeps this up.

I thought about posting CE, but he plays a different position, so not comparable in terms of these 3 wings' stat line.I tried editing multiple times but could not keep the margins straight with this word processor.

CE is emerging as a great player, but he also is in the perfect situation to showcase his talents. His teammates are doing an unbelievable job getting him open and getting him the ball at exactly the right time. I hate singling out any one player on this Purdue team, because I could make an argument that Carsen, Vince, and Dakota should all be first team all conference.

That all being said, if I had to go with an individual player right now for B1G PoY it would be Bates Diop. I think that I would round out the first team with JJJ and the 3 Boilers if the season were to end today. That may sound incredibly biased towards Purdue, but Purdue leads the conference in both most points scored and fewest points allowed in conference games, so I am giving Mathias the benefit of the doubt over great players like Bridges and Murphy.
