Best of Luck to Plummer

If AOC does not come back, Burton? Allen is enrolling in January.....

Best wishes to the young man. I hope he finished off his degree or is finishing it off this semester.

I wouldn't be stunned if he had a nice season somewhere else. I think the thing that prevented him from the same type of season AOC ended up having was he just didn't look down the field enough. Not sure whether he didn't have great vision or was too scared to make a mistake but that seemed to be the big difference to me. He had a great completion percentage but too much was checked down stuff that didn't keep us driving down the field.

If he goes somewhere with a decent running game to complement his abilities and give him more time to look downfield, he could have a nice season.

Best of luck to him.

As for Purdue, it will be interesting to see what happens if AOC leaves. Does that make Alaimo the man next season? Does Brady Allen have a chance to start as a true freshman? Do we look for additional help in the portal?

Best of luck to him.

I wasn't surprised to see this. He wasn't even given much mop-up time on Saturday. Not exactly what you would do to groom your starter for next year.

If O'Connell doesn't return and nobody else can seize control of the start we might see Allen by mid-season

Best of luck to Plummer. Not a whiner or complainer. He towed the company line and did the best he could.
This somewhat newer portal process can give him a better opportunity at a PAC-12 school closer to home and possibly a shot at starter there.
If Purdue uses the portal to pickup a QB, then you know that AOC is likely intending to head to the NFL. Should be an interesting couple of weeks around here.

I thought Alaimo had a good shot of taking over even if Plummer returned. So if O’Connell leaves my money is on Alaimo as the starter next year.
That is a reasonable take. I think people are discounting him since he didn't really enter the QB derby this season. But this is a complex offense and we had 2 very experienced QBs who knew it well. Alaimo may very well be pulling ahead of Jack in practice. IMO this is a sign that either Aidan is likely to return or Alaimo is coming on strong. Or maybe that is my optimism speaking. But I doubt Plummer steps out like this if the job is his to lose. Considering the circumstances I don't think he is going to draw much high level interest.

I wish Plummer the very best. He is a great young man and represented Purdue well. I have believed all along that Purdue could be successful with either O’Connell or Plummer. For whatever reason Plummer became too risk averse imo this year and it opened the door for O’Connell who grabbed the reigns and showed himself to be one of the best qbs in the Big. Assuming Plummer cuts it loose next year I believe he will have great success wherever he goes.

Thank you for all you gave to Purdue!

Boiler up!

Northwestern.

Same here..

he’s a good dude and I think he can be good at a team where offensive line is a strength.

but it’s like Brian said.. when Purdue is good the QB is good, and is often driving that success. Plummer is not the kind of QB that’s gonna go out there with a meh OL and just start giving defenses fits.

not that he’s going to, but the dude could transfer to Iowa and probably be an instant upgrade. Not at Purdue, where we often need our QBs brain to beat opposing defenses

I think this means AOC will return
Kind of the logical conclusion. If Aidan was for sure done, it would be quite the battle next year between Jack and Alaimo, with Burton and Allen behind them. If Aidan is coming back, there really isn't much of a place for Jack. We've talked about it here the last few weeks as Aidan has shined. You always want depth, but all 5 of these guys here together would be too much depth IMO.

Good luck to Jack!

When I think of 12s skill set at the position, I think I’d be grateful to have caleb terbush instead. I hope great things for him but that perhaps he finds better opportunities as well. Even the third string or fourth string QB should be making some NIL money here and thus warrant it

Plummer has decided to enter the transfer portal. Wish him the best!

Props to him for sticking the season out and not being a distraction at all as well.

He will land somewhere and play and have some success...too good not to...it just never worked out for him at Purdue for any number of reasons.

I am glad that he is leaving on good terms (or at least making it appear so).

When I think of good landing spots for him I’m thinking like mountain west type places.. but maybe he catches on at a San Jose state and catches fire. His Purdue experience should help him set up a mountain West defense nicely

I just don’t see him getting a promise to start at a P5 school and I’m betting that’s what he’s looking for. I’d def say a MW or maybe even a MAC school is where he turns up.

Yes the Mac also wouldn’t surprise me if he got no interest from a San Diego state or San Jose state type place. Those thinking P5 need to ask themselves.. could you picture him beating a chance Nolan type guy out? Maybe if Colorado only has another guy who is merely a Sam Noyer type he could swing it (I haven’t looked). But yeah.. G5 if he’s looking to have a great shot to play

I was debating someone during the offseason about Purdue's QBs. I said that I thought O'Connell would be Honorable Mention if he was the starter and Plummer was better than half the QBs out there. Think how good Wisconsin for example would have been if they had Plummer all year.

Best of luck to him, admitingly he was the QB I preferred before the season but you can tell AOC wsas the best we had. As I said before I can see him at Arizona, Boise or San Jose St but w/ the head coaching change at UW who knows.

If AOC goes pro, Plummer now out I could see a situation with Rattler coming here
What is it that they say, ‘the good players don’t enter the portal unless they already have a destination’

Utah State would match up well…workmanlike team and Jack is a team-guy
