Best conference start since 1990?

That's pretty crazy and says a lot about how difficult it is to take care of business in conference play. This team may not have a Big Dog, a Biggie, or a Smooge/Hummel/JJ, but it's the most balanced Boiler team I've seen since I started actively following as a 4th grader in 1993.

They'll lose some games over the next 2 months, but there's nobody they can't compete with this year, which is more than any Purdue team besides the 93-94 and pre-Hummel injury 09-10 team can say since I began watching.

That 1990 team started 8-0 in the Big Ten and had a three-game lead but wound up losing the league championship on a last-second foul/steal/layup in the season’s final game at Breslin -- a no-call that even Jud Heathcote had to laugh off. That would’ve been Purdue’s fourth Big Ten title in a seven-year span. Since then, Purdue had the three-peat championships of 1994, 1995 and 1996, plus the title teams of 2010 and 2017. Perfect starts are nice, but finishes with championships are much, much better.
