If one sets a minimum of number of attempts (say 15 or more), was that the best display beyond-the-arc that the Boilers have ever had?

we hit 18 last year against vermont

Couldn't remember which game that was last year. Yes, Boilers were 18-36 in that game, including DM 5-7 and the formerly known Vince Edwards 4-5. Last night however, was the best single-night team shooting I've seen from the Boilers from deep......17-26 (65.4%) is darn impressive. And as Gottlieb said, these were good looks.....that's the best part of it to me. There was a stretch in the second half where it was seemingly "raining" threes......Ken Double would have had a heart attack and lost his voice for sure.

Best single game performance (for 3pt shooting) for my money is still Rob Hummel's crazy game against Ohio State in 2010 followed closely by E'twaun Moore's game against the Buckeyes a year later.

From Purduesports.com, Nage:

"Purdue's 65.4 percent shooting from deep was the highest percentage in school history with a minimum of 20 attempts ... in the two games in Cancun, Purdue was 17-of-22 (.773) from long distance in the second half. "

Can they renovate Mackey again, this time into a giant ballroom?

I assumed the guys all thought they were playing Nerf in their parent's basement.

Just install a drop ceiling about ten feet below the bottom of the scoreboard and you have it. Apologies to all with season tickets above the first rail, your seats have been removed.

Purdue paying out the ass to have the two baskets shipped back to West Lafayette

Were they sent express? Hopefully, MB2 knows better......

I know they probably had some big time 3PT shooting games in the Three Amigos' final two seasons ('86-'87 and '87-'88), as well as during the B1G 3-Peat seasons ('93-'94 through '95-'96), but I can't remember one that was as high a percentage for that many attempts (26). It looks like it was!

As far as individual performances, guys like John Wooden (obviously), Terry Dischinger, Dave Schellhase, Rick Mount, John Garrett, Walter Jordan, Jerry Sichting, Joe Barry Carroll, Keith Edmonson, and Russell Cross all played before my time and I was too young when Troy Lewis-Todd Mitchell-Everette Stephens were doing their thing, but I did watch Glenn Robinson's 49 point game vs. Illinois, as well as his 44 point game vs. Kansas. Those were the two best individual performances by a Purdue player that I have seen live.

I know Cuonzo Martin had some big scoring games as well, and the same goes for guys like Chad Austin, Brad Miller, Brian Cardinal, Willie Deane, David Teague, Carl Landry, JaJuan Johnson, Robbie Hummel, Terone Johnson (had a 30-something point game vs. Michigan his junior season), and A.J. Hammons. However, I would have to say that after The Big Dog's two aforementioned performances, E'Twaun Moore's game vs. Ohio State his senior season has to be the next best individual performance I have seen.

Robbie's game against OSU was amazing in the first half. Still cant believe we lost that game. JJ had a pretty good game at MSU with a ton of blocks points and rebounds if I remember correctly.

I would have to agree. :) The first half of the Kansas game when he scored 30 was perhaps the greatest half I've ever seen. Everything went in. Several 3s. He dunked on Ostertag. He even slipped on the court on a wet spot and traveled from 15 feet and after the whistle blew he threw it up to the rim while almost on his back and it went in. When the ball went in the hoop, they were totally pure (didn't even hit rim - even the travel make). I have never seen anything like that from anyone ever (Purdue or not).

I remember the Illinois game, which was his last game at Mackey, he had a chance for 50 on a breakaway, but the ball slipped out of his hands, so he had to settle for 49. :) So many wow moments.

E'twaun's Ohio State game was definitely up there for sure! So many clutch 3s and who could forget his double clutch lay-up over David Lighty (who was a great defender) that had no business going in. Mackey was SHAKIN' that day!

Sorry for any confusion, ladies and gents, my thoughts on best individual games were meant to be focused on for 3-pt shooting games I saw.

Did someone put a lump of coal in your stocking, bud? Let me educate you killjoy.

I'm surprised you didn't know that the Kansas game we are referring to (that you apparently don't want Purdue fans to recall in your post) was probably the most important, impactful and greatest 3 pt shooting game in Purdue history.

15 for 27 for 55% in an NCAA Sweet 16 game that we won by 5. Waddell hit a few as did G-Rob, but Zo was on fire hitting 8 threes, which is a Purdue record for 3s in a game to this day (Hummel later tied against OSU).

Klm,

Not trying to be that at all....candidly and unfortunately, I did not get to see that great Kansas game....that was all I meant....but your points are well-taken, and I often think Cuonzo doesn't get enough credit. Great points from you and Nage.....sorry to have created any ill will among the posters. I really was not meaning to get into anything about it, or ignore other posters, disrupting the discussion, but I certainly can see how my post unintentionally did that and then some.

No worries and Happy Holidays! Let's hope for some more 3 pointers this Weds @ Louisville!

Best pure "nothing but net" shooter at Purdue never scored a 3. Mount was it hands down. GRob was special, no doubt about it but if we're just talking shooting it was Mount.

Yep he was amazing and many (maybe most?) of his twos would have been threes today. I loved his shot from the corner.

Mount scored something like 63 in a game in Macky against Iowa. We lost something like 108-107 in OT. I was there and the refs scr@wed us bigtime. The local headline the next day was "Purdue loses to 8 man team". (The big ten had just gone to three officials)

Someone later took the game film and concluded that he would have scored 85 if the three point line had been there.

The game programs - then free - used to list all of the 20 plus games by Purdue players. By the time Mount left it was 40+ and he had most of them.

Pure shooting it is Mount hands down. That said the rest of the team covered for him on D. Especially his senior year after he hurt his knee.

By the way, tickets were $4 back then.

Yes, I was just inquiring about the best overall 3PT shooting performance in one game by a Purdue team as a whole but people enjoy discussing individual player performances, so I can understand how it strayed slightly from the original question.
