Yes. My daughter and mother know I would never be violent towards them and would never actually choke them, but they also understand a thing called humor. You should Google it.

I recall a college in the past that had ethics! I forgot their name. At the time they had a written agreement for both players and coaches. And the agreement said that if the person was involved in any crime or accused of a crime or just even brought bad publicity or discredit to their school’s name, they would be fired or kicked off the team permanently.
As I said, the agreement was not about being convicted. If you were accused or just brought discredit to the college , you were gone.
Several people were accused of doing something that was legal but not ethical and they were gone. They challenged the agreement saying they were innocent. But the agreement said bringing bad attention to the school. They were gone!

Sounds extremely un-American. Don't like someone? Publicly accuse them of a crime. They're gone. Doesn't matter if it's true.

Would you care if I or someone else made “jokes” about choking and beating and biting your daughter, wife or mother for whatever reason or because they had resting bitch faces or were sluts etc ?
I get humor and love comedy, but I value being clever. Punching down on battered women is simply low hanging fruit and doesn’t tickle my funny bone.

If you must know, we are a very close family with both kids still living at home in their mid 20's. My daughter is pursuing a masters in economics and has made the Dean's list every year of school she's ever attended. The environment is quite lovely.

Maybe you just have been lucky enough that the women who are close to you have not been physically assaulted by their partner, it’s just not a funny situation when you have to see the physical damage on the face or body of someone you care about. It sure doesn’t seem that it is humorous to you when someone suggest your family in a similar context, take from that what you will.
