Mayer is the 6’9” SF from Baylor with the mullet. He shoots well and is generally a good offensive player. I think he plays decent D, but nothing special.

I’ve heard TKR will get a look at SF or 3 next year. How do these guys compare?

The no mullet is the single biggest advantage.
I think the mullet/mustache combo make him a “feared” opponent.

For real though, the guy can play. He’s a decent shooter and can put it on the floor ok for a guy of his height. I’m comparing them more for the “game” standpoint than their looks.

He was a key player for them in their NC run. Made a bunch of key threes in the NCAAT.

He seems like a guy who should have played in the Larry Bird/Magic Johnson days of MBB.

Lol, sorry! Couldn't help myself. I knew what you meant. Just being a smart alec.

From my limited observations from both guys, it seems to me that Mayer is a better ball handler and playmaker than Kaufman. Of course he is older and more experienced, so perhaps Kaufman can grow into his role as a bonifide wing. Maybe I'm wrong about this, but Mayer strikes me more as a big guard while Kaufman is more of a mobile forward.

I had just heard that Kaufman was quite a scorer in practice. I had heard he was playing 3, 4 and even 5 at one point. It’s obvious that he’d play 4 at his height, but he seems versatile. The most obvious player from Boiler history would be V Edwards. Not sure how they really compare. TKR was a highly rated guy out of HS, and he made an impression early on. I can’t wait to see him in uniform.

Not sure about the comparison but I’m super excited to see TKR, especially after a year watching the team, practicing, and hitting the gym. I’m sure he wanted to play this year but could easily be one of the best freshman in the league next year.
