Battle 4 Atlantis: Chicago State v. Purdue Game Thread

But isn't this part of the Tournament....like first game of it?

Yes, but I think that's in name only. Teams are allowed 4 tourney exempt games each year. The B4A bracket will only provide 3, so every team schedules one home game as part of the event. Expanding B1G play by 2 games should mean 2 fewer teams to fill out the non-conf schedule which hopefully means being able to get rid of these 300+ RPI teams.

You have to play them if they're on the schedule. Hope no pulled muscles or anything.

Right. If we would've lost to Chicago St, it's not like they would have gone to the Bahamas instead to play Tennessee.

That used to be the case, actually. First round or two at campus sites, then off to the Caribbean or wherever. Then one too many power school lost at home to a nobody and no fans traveled to the destination games.

Is it that he’s looking for an edge
What the.....? Carsen, no turnovers in two games. The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.
i noticed that he produced at a high level without having to dominate the ball or dominate the game. Yet he did dominate. He is way better than last season.

25/4/3 with no turnovers (10/13 (4/6) from the field)....over-matched competition perhaps, but he's letting the opportunities come to him and then making things happen in the flow.....the occasional force/attempt, but definitely under more control from what I see so far.....we shall see.....Tuesday is a much better test.

I also think he is more focused/confident on defense.....again....we'll see when some adversity hits with stronger teams.

Sorry if this was already mentioned but I'm pretty sure that Purdue's 69 point victory today was its largest margin of victory for a single game in program history. It bested the Boilers' 62 point victory over Northern Illinois in November 2011.

Second biggest. We once beat Indiana State 112-6. Take notes, Hoosiers! That's how you beat a tree

So I have been watching Eiffert get minutes and for the life of me I am not exactly sure what he is good at.
Here's some things you should watch for: He has good all-around basketball skills. He doesn't make mistakes. He accepts coaching, understands what Painter wants, and plays as hard as he can with every minute he gets.

if all you do is look at stats, you can find many stats to show deficiencies if you just pick and choose.

you could point out one player had 6 TOs! totally unacceptable.

or our FT % was 67.9% which is not awesome.

or we only had 3 more offensive board, so rebounding must still be a problem as our offensive rebound edge was only 14-11.

or three of our guards missed all of their 3 point attempts.

or you could complain the sky was gray instead of being grey.

if all you want to do is complain, and all you do is look at stats, you will certainly always find something to complain about.

there is only one stat that is really worth anything. That's the W ! Purdue won, and won convincingly,. you keep doing that, and the team and individual accolades will follow.

Vince wins the race to the first post-Swanigan double-double with 15 & 12. He's on the same double-double pace as Biggie was last season through 2 games!

Bad for Chi St, but good for Purdue is that there was no let-up when they got a double-digit lead. If the seniors have learned the importance of this, then it will help reach their potential.

Contributes too the game, So far all I can tell is that he is can rebound, play below average defense, and offers nothing on the offensive end except lay ups when the player guarding him leaves him.
As a wandering IU fan you should be very familiar with below average defense. Rebounding likely is not a familiar concept. Troll away.

I'm thrilled that he rebounds and hits open lay-ups when his defender leaves him. Why would anyone not be?

All true. He is going to be extremely good this season. I suspect that the consistency will come along also.

What did Swanigan do to you? First you are mad that he left and now you are mad that he was here at all.

I'm mad that he gave up on all of us to chase a dollar and 5 whole minutes a night. That's such a guy thing. We're better without him anyway. I'll get it over it when we get to the Final 4.
