B1G Conspiracy Theory

For all nutjobs like myself....some predictions:

Refs will be whistle happy in East Lansing today to ensure a Sparty victory over Wisky. OF COURSE the B1G wants m$u in the NCAA. The victory today will help pad the MSU resume and ensure Sparty gets in the dance. So look for some lopsided officiating to favor the Whiny Ones.

The good news is we will CRUSH IU at home as the refs will only help us in this already lopsided affair. The B1G would like a higher seed for Purdue and IU is playing for nothing.

Sadly, the same won't be true when the Boilers go to Evanston. B1G wants to see the Cinderella Story get to the dance and will try to ensure that with happy whistles favoring the Wildcats. Purdue will have to play strong and smart to overcome this.

OK - I prefaced this post with admitted lunacy. But I do think there may be a thread of truth in it.

Well, definitely what could be said si that refs are human and prior to a game have a vision of their opinions of certain calls and WHO should win and WHO should do well and aware of where they are reffing... Humans have biases even if not trying to cheat...
Now the NCAA by hand selecting certain teams and justifying them with whatever tehy can, certainly is not immune to the dollar. THAT said MSU is a media darling and I too expect MSU to win. IU is another media darling, but is the NIT even a possibility? NW, what a story...media darling. Purdue...biggie's story...what a line as well

So... the refs gave the game to MSU for the sake of the Big Ten? The loss has a chance to make Purdue the only ranked team out of the Big Ten right now. Unless you think Minny or Michigan makes a huge jump. Had Purdue beat Michigan, they had a chance at being top 10 based on what lost ahead of them. They got zero favors at Michigan. Had refs called some early stuff on Wagner, that game could have been completely different. The refs have just been awful across the board. I don't think they prioritize the better teams. That said, we need to take care of business and destroy the Hoosiers and the season on beating NW. Backing into the tournament never ends well and I hope Purdue didn't peak at the wrong time. Let's just hope we don't fave a team that bombs a lot of threes and gets hot.

Stick - I didn't address the PU/Michigan game in my conspiracy post. But, consistent with the other thoughts, the B1G wanted Michigan to win.....to ensure their NCAA bid. In my conspiracy theory, the B1G doesn't care about rankings but rather making sure they get 7 teams in the dance. UM, M$U, and NW are/were the teams at risk.

Full disclolsure: I don't actually believe this stuff (except that Bo Boroski is a crook!). Just thought I'd have some fun with it.

If Purdue plays much better than NW, there won't be enough whistles and no-calls in the world to save the Wildcats.
