And 19 committed. How would this finish be:

RB Andrew Cunningham
WR Terry Traynor
DE Madison Norris
DT Branson Deen
LB Justin Dingle
LB Antwaun Johnson

I know it's a long shot all 19 currently committed, stay committed, and new targets will emerge, but there are some other nice candidates out there too

RB Marcus Caldwell
RB/LB Kyle Wright
WR Meechi Harris
WR Travon King
LB Mason Parris
LBDequan Jackson

All of the above have "warm" rating on 24/7 sports Purdue offer list with the exception of Parris

after receiving commitments from two RB's in the past week, I'm not sure about going after a third one or adding another WR.

one of the things that concerns me is that at last count, our current team headed into camp was still 2 scholarships over the limit. Obviously 2 people will be leaving. it will be easier to identify our needs after they leave. I think this class will be closer to 21/22 with a couple of openings left for late juco signings than 25.

Cunningham you take I would think. Traynor did he not commit to UK? Saw gray committed to Missouri. Think you take Dingle and Johnson at LB. I take Deen and Norris as well. Then hope Rondale Moore has a change of heart. I'm sure 1-3 guys will de commit or go somewhere else based on current recruiting landscape

He was offered by U.K...called it his dream school, but didn't commit.

I agree you take all the DL and LB you can.

Parker is a tall athletic TE, can be used like Giesicki at psu. Catches alot of jump ball type passes which are crucial esp. down at the goal line. The TE is also a safety valve when the QB is getting rushed and w our OL and type of O we will run , the QB will be under pressure.

Should I ask who left? two months ago, we were 4 over our limit and still adding grad transfers. Earlier this month we were still 2 over our limit. And now we are under? Is the WR transfer from ND still coming? I know attrition happens ..... but did anybody of significance leave? or not make our admission requirements?

Should I ask who left? CANT REMEMBER OFF HTE TOP OF MY HEAD

I know attrition happens ..... but did anybody of significance leave? NO

or not make our admission requirements? MOST EVERYONE IS ALREADY ON CAMPUS

With this many commits not sure who will fall out next year to make up the difference. By my count we are currently 1 under and only have 13 graduating seniors on the roster this year having brought in 6 transfers with two years of eligibility...

I wouldnt be shocked if a decent number of RS Jrs that arent playing leave after the season

Coach Brohm mentioned there are multiple players that are in poor standing academically and may end up being casualties. They had to do very well for both summer sessions. I'll bet at least one more players takes off when they realize they are going to be buried in the charts (LB, WR, or RB).

Even then not sure about where they are going to get 20+ numbers...

Bearooz Yacoobi, OG, Junior (RS)
Cole Herdman, TE, Junior (RS) - Starter
David Blough, QB, Junior (RS) - Starter
Keiwan Jones, DT, Junior (RS)
Kirk Barron, C, Junior (RS) - Starter
Tim Cason, CB, Junior (RS)
Will Colmery, DT, Junior (RS)

There were probably 6-8 players that left. It was announced probably a month or so ago. The only one that projected any minutes this year was probably Landers.

With only 5 spots left, I would like to see...

LB Justin Dingle
LB Antwaun Johnson
DE Madison Norris
WR Terez Traynor

And then hopefully one surprise. I'd love to land CB Donald Johnson, 4 star from Indy, but I know it's a long shot.

Regardless, I am impressed by how this class has shaped up. It has met our needs and has a lot of talent in it. Plenty of reasons to be excited about football again.

30 man class

the NCAA does have a limit on the size a class can be.. I thought it was 28.

so the obvious question is does the 28 scholarship limit apply to the 2017 class, or the 2018 class?
you can also manipulate the rules. Mid year enrollees can count against the prior year's class limit if it was below 25 and so on.

Do you know NAT: Purdue had 24 last year...but a few came in early last December. Do those count in the 24? So if 3 came in at December, can Purdue take one in December or four?

Dont know how they accounted for the mid years. It will be interesting. At this point, i wish they would publish the official roster.

I read somewhere by somebody that the 3 early enrollees could be counted against the 2016 class. Unfortunately, that person was not an official person. And their wording was spelled could, and not would.

With everything else Brohm has done recruiting wise, I'm confident if he could assign players to the 2016 class, that he did . he has proven very shrewd and knowledgeable in his recruiting practices.

he pulled off assigning that kicker to the 2017 class, so I have confidence in his knowledge of the 'system".

I'll take the 2 Indiana boys(1LB, 1DE) and J. Dingle from Kentucky and call it good, if there are more spots available, then I defer to Brohm and Staff to finish it off.
If we can build off the 2018 class with an even better 2019 class, the Boilers return to Prominence will have the experts shaking their collective heads. That would be Cool!

With Dingle and Johnson committing elsewhere who do you think replaces those prospects?

My gut tells me that there is something else going on with Johnson that he would commit to Toledo over multiple power five offers. I wonder if Purdue pulled their offer.
BGSU, not toledo.

My guess would be grades or a girl. Its usually one of those 2.

Few directions;

Since there is a need for starters next year, the can sell JuCos.

Or they can beef up some of the bigger DB commits from this year and last (Trice and Abrams?)

A few of the RB guys could switch to LB (Wright is listed as both on different sites)

Offer more guys (most likely)

it appears we are going to have to wait until our victories over Ohio and Missouri before we start adding to our current count. It looks like our top targets and potential targets are currently taking a wait and see approach. I say potential targets because once you start winning, recruits take notice. a win over ohio or mizzou would go a long way to winning over some Midwest recruits. And I guess we can always fill our last couple of spots with some jucos, and flip some players.

on a related note, I have some inside info on 4* TE Luke Ford, Carterville, IL who decommited from Arkansas and has standing offers from Alabama, Illinois 4 other BIG 10 Schools, 5 BIG 12 schools, 8 SEC schools and a host of other power 5 schools , except Purdue. he has said he wants to commit to a school where he feels he will start as a sophomore. he doesn't want to be just a number on a team. basically, he'd rather start than be a back-up at Alabama. he'd be a great fit for Purdue. Sort of sad he's not a target or received an offer. if he's good enough for Alabama and Michigan, he's good enough for Purdue. Strangely, he has an offer from WKU. I kind of laughed when I saw SIU offered him. then again, he's a local boy, and I'd be upset if SIU didn't offer him. SIU offering him is kid of like Purdue offering players in the Lafayette area.

Maybe SI Boiler can influence him.

Being a wrestling coach. I hope Mason stays on the mat. This kid legit has a chance to be on an Olypimpic podium one day. If he does choose to play football I hope Purdue takes him in a heart beat.
