Asst. Coach ideas?

Groce is an Indiana guy. Grew up in Danville, went to Taylor University. My guess a good offer and he's all in as an assistant, especially at IU or PU. He was rumored to have the Dayton job, but that didn't happen. I think it would be a great hire.
I was looking forward to see Crean taking over Dayton

Tindley HS coach, Bob Wonnell, might be good to look at. Will help with Indiana recruiting (specifically Hunter) and he is a heck of a coach.

I would like to take a run at Fife too. Make him an offer he can't refuse. He is one of the best recruiting assistants out there.

A third option would be a family member or coach of McCoy. He would be a one year rental, but would give us a shot at a title. He is that kind of player. Athletic rim protector. Exactly what we will need to make the next step for next year.
Deacon is the man at MSU.

It is official that Kenny Lowe is moving on to Miami of Ohio.

Hopefully Painter gets a great recruiter

Now is the time to do what Zo did and hire a family member or AAU coach of an upcoming stud. McCoy, Langford, Hauser, Tilmon. Biggest need is a rim protector, but a player like Langford would be enshrined in the Boiler hall of fame before he ever set foot on campus.

Find the highest rated player who has even a sniff of wanting to come to Purdue....see if his dad can coach...hire dad as part of a package deal for the son...release dad after son is done.

(Total TIC btw)

I know you were being TIC, but this is basically what just happened at Memphis. Josh Pastner, the previous head coach, hired Keelon Lawson, who is the father of Dedric and K.J. Lawson, two standout HS players. Pastner left for Georgia Tech and Tubby Smith took over this past season. At some point in this past season or immediately afterwards, Tubby demoted Keelon Lawson (I believe to either DOBO or assistant video coordinator). That did not sit well with him and his sons and now Dedric and K.J. are transferring from Memphis.

So, even after the father of a coveted player(s) is added as an assistant coach, it doesn't mean that it will be smooth sailing (especially if there's a coaching change) for the remainder of the players' time there.

That's so Memphis.

I know he is a former IU player but I wonder if Painter would give Michael Lewis a look from Nebraska. Nebraska seems to be a sinking ship and Lewis has some nice ties and connections to the state of Indiana.

Aaaaah ha. This area is still just crawling with Beat fans:D. Somebody needs to knock off the damn Packers but we're all so inconsistent.

I'm looking forward to seeing Adrian Peterson wearing the green and gold and finally winning a super bowl ring. . it would only be fitting after Favre left our frozen tundra and became a Viking! the Bears will be tougher against the Pack now that Cutler is not their QB !

Steve Lutz from Creighton.....

Name to watch. Anyone know anything about him???
Based on Creighton's site - he is their lead recruiter and is good with big men.

Also looking at his resume - it seems like he would be more in line to make a jump to HC sooner v later.

Lewis might be in line to become Nebraska's Head Coach if the rumors about Miles is true. He's losing players right and left and New Mexico was/were allegedly interested in him.

As for Lewis, I'd love to see him sitting beside Painter. Loved his game, and his fire at IU.....one of my all-time favorite Hoosiers. I'd also take Craig Neal too.

weird big man trivia....I know it seems like when Sandi Marcuis (sp?) was recruited as a big for Purdue, it boiled down to Purdue and SMU and Lutz was the guy @ the time recruiting for SMU...

He does have a nice resume and is well liked by the players it seems. Could end up being a solid choice. Like the outsiders' new ideas he might bring in.

I like his skills and resume but we would have 2 assistants focused on bigs - Brantley.
