I am sure Brohm has a very good idea of who he wants as assistant coaches, and I would hesitate to try to interfere, but if he is looking to build recruiting ASAP, he might want to consider hiring 4 former Super Bowl-winning Boilers:

1) Rod Woodson - to coach the secondary,
2) Mike Alstott - to coach the running backs,
3) Rosevelt Colvin - to coach the defensive ends, and
4) Matt Light - to coach the offensive line.

As all four are from the 3 hour radius around Purdue, I can only imagine the impact of having one of those 4 showing up in the homes of potential recruits and making their pitch - which could be: come to Purdue and be coached by Hall of Fame pros for your own NFL aspirations, instead of simply going to a big, winning program.

I am sure those guys, if they were interested, could win over not only a lot of 3-star kids, but even several 4- and 5-star recruits as well.

Just a thought!

Colvin might consider if contacted, but dont lose sleep on the other 3 leaving multimillion dollar homes and post career professions to live in Tippecanoe County.

Woodson makes too much money in broadcasting.

Alstott too busy with businesses.

Colvin a mix of the two aforementioned.

Light enjoying making a difference in the youth of today.

Woodson is an assistant with the raiders. He wanted the head coach Job. Doubt he would come back for anything less

I'd rather get guys that have actually recruited and knows what it takes. My list:

Vance Bedford, former Texas DC. Hire him as DB coach. Previously coached at Louisville and Michigan so he knows the area and knows the TX recruiting area.

Don Pellum, Oregon LB and recruiting coordinator. Hire him as a LB coach. Has connections to the West Coast, and Oregon always recruited TX well so we can double dip into TX.

Ben Strickland, FAU DB coach, hire him as CB Coach. Former walk-on at Wisconsin. Was a Graduate Assistant and than Secondary coach there before moving on to FAU. He's young and smart, and has ties to the midwest area.

Not saying he's a bad coach, but why would a guy who's been a HC for the last 23 years want to come in as a position coach? At 57, he seems like a guy who would just waiting to get a Sun Belt-ish type HC job before becoming a position coach.

I think Brohm and Bobinski can engage alums in a way the previous administration cannot, but let Brohm pick his staff. Chemistry is a big part of a coaching staff.
