Arizona Winning

Voters won’t remember that game most likely because they’re lazy

Also, to be entirely fair, they were missing a very good player when we played them.

Marquee wins mean a lot to voters....we have a chance for 1 more in this regular season. It will make it hard to really jump in the polls.

Purdue will climb...so long as they lose to no one else except MSU. Going undefeated the rest of the reg season with only 1 loss to MSU is a HUGE challenge, but not impossible.

I get the sense that the basic perception is that Arizona has a higher ceiling despite having more losses including a head-to-head loss to Purdue.

That probably influences how some pollsters vote.

If our Boilers can win next week’s road games vs Michigan and Minnesota, and take care of business in every other 1st half game, they could go 9-0 to start the conference season. Probably not realistic as conference teams all know and try to exploit your weaknesses, but I give this team a great chance of getting it done. Senior leadership needs to be the difference.

While I love your enthusiasm, there’s no one loss team in the B1G this year. Two losses is even unlikely IMO.

Normally, this is absolutely true. I think there is a huge chasm under the top two this year. The injuries to MD widen it. I know that nearly every B1G team loses at least a game every year to someone that is a shock, but with our Seniors and MSU's team, I think this could (note I say COULD) be different.

yeah, history disagrees...but history may not apply this year. Still, the Big has great crowds, good players and a poor shooting game or not being fully tuned in can getcha beat.

Not to be pessimistic, but Purdue will have at least 3 to 4 losses in the conference. They'll end up losing on the road to a team or two they shouldn't. It always happens, not because Purdue isn't good. But every team experiences it.

I'm saying at Illinois for some reason. I can't see 4 losses at all though. 15-3 gets 3 seed hopefully.

Don’t we have the most wins over the highest rpi teams? The WKU loss is killing us but maybe it got their attention

Not sure I'm buying into Wichita St at #9. Who have they beat, other than Baylor? Not a top 10 team IMO.

all the power polls and computer generated polls like us. but the media and coaches are the ones who cast the majority of votes and will be part of the seeding committee. We need a couple of statement victories that coaches can see and point to.

Seems a bit unrealistic to see a "couple of statement victories that coaches can see and point to" being much available with the schedule being what it is.
Getting hung up on polling just seems much ado about very little right now. Just win games and things will sort themselves out, lose games and reap the very unfortunate consequences.

yup. Purdue basically has two chances to improve their poll status beat MSU, and win the BIG 10 tourney. other than that, their chance on climbing in the polls is based purely on other teams losing. it is what it is. We're not going to change the voters' minds. just take care of business.

I will add it did seem the last 2 years that our BIG 10 commissioner didn't fight very hard for our NCAA tourney seedings. Yes, I was disappointed Purdue received only a #4 seed last year. But every other BIG 10 team also received a seed 1-2 places lower than what they deserved. maybe part of our seeding problems are related to our conference championship game being played on Sunday rather than Saturday. I truly believe based on leaked info that the top 8 seedings are decided on Saturday and Sunday's games have very little if any impact. We saw teams lose their conference tourney and still receive a #1 seed.

That's solved this year - so we'll know more in March
