Or are there other things to think about? Things no one is talking about today, but I am sure will start coming up soon. None of us know how far reaching this whole scandal goes and how long it will take to resolve. My personal opinion is that it is going to pretty bad for CBB but not devastating.

I think most on here feel the same way I do, kind of like we are being vindicated a little bit. Meaning our program is clean (and I sure hope it is) and we have been dealing with a stacked deck. It will be very interesting to see if Kansas gets caught up in this crap due to them eliminating Purdue twice recently in the NCAA’s.

So with the assumption that we are clean, what’s next? Let’s just think about that. Say 6 to 10 head coaches get taken down at historically BB heavy schools. That means 6 to 10 or more coaches will need to be hired. These are high profile school with name recognition and reputation. How do you restore your image if you are such a school? You go out and get a seasoned, above average coach that is known to run a clean ship.

Who fits that description? I can think of one guy right off the top of my head. His first name is Matt and his last name start with a P. As this starts to shake out should Purdue keeping a close eye on the situation in the event they need to sweeten such coach’s compensation? What you say?

No, he doesn't deserve more money. He deserves the RESPECT and HONOR that he has not received from some here .... he is a good man, a man who has helped some other men become much better men. That does not deserve more pay ... it deserves more respect.

Well to be honest, I didn't think about that potential until now. I would suspect we have this season to not worry about it, but at the end like you said, there are going to potentially be a lot of openings.

I am right there with ya. I respect MP so much I desperately do not want to lose him because the offers are too much for PU to compete with. I guess that is life in the free market, but I still don't want us to lose a coach like Matt because of all the crap that will be going on for the foreseeable future.

I think Painter has things going much better now than when he sniffed the Mizzo offer. He is one of the veteran coaching in the B1G now (Izzo will retire soon). And he has Bo as the AD now. My guess is Bo knows that he should keep Painter and will do what it takes to make it happen.

It would be embarrassing if we were cheating and couldn't land a single recruit in the top 100.

Like most CBB coaches, Matt has been put in a few positions where he could have landed a big name had he "taken care of their monetary needs". He is a stand up guy with morals and values that we can be proud of. The apple has been offered to him but he has never partaken. I'm sure of that.

The question posed in the thread is an interesting thought to ponder though. I have no comment on it because it's not something we have talked about.

There is only speculation and the info that we have available. I think it all says that we are clear. Too much info to list here and one never knows, but there are several signals that say we are clear ....
