As a staunch conservative (financial, a little more center on a few issues) and Trump supporter, I've very happy with what DJT has been able to accomplish in his first 6 weeks in office. During campaigning, he told us exactly what he was going to do once in office, and he's been very true to his word. It's refreshing and unusual to have a politician (more of a businessman) fulfill his campaign promises to this extent.
My only disappointment to this point, has been the impact on the stock market. However, I also believe that he and his advisory team knew this whipsaw reaction would be the case and there would be some short term carnage like we're experiencing.
I"m still confident in President Trump and his economic plan/strategy, I'm just hoping the policies will have the desired impact and reaction from our trading partners. I think it's too early to tell after only a few days and the very short term negative reaction in the market. I think (hope) that after these policies have had some time to settle and the negotiations continue, that the market will realize the positive impact on the economy and in 3 months, we'll be ahead of where we were a week ago.

I told y’all a long time ago that these stupid tariffs is going to jack things up. During his first term when Chimp first implemented the tariffs on steel, living in the steel capital of the US I was all for it initially. We found out later it caused a trade war with China. The farmers were pissed. Horrible idea. Chump did not learn from the last time and implemented more tariffs this time around and the same thing is happening. The markets are now unstable. Seemed like the 10% tariffs on steel that Bush the Younger implemented worked better.

They just canceled travel for the DoD and set the credit card limits at 1 dollar. I can't go meet with my SnT counterparts or platform teams or my non local contractors. Bye bye hotel/airline stocks. Just like covid.

Would you be able to have a zoom meeting with them instead? No one seemed to complain when COVID and the Biden team shut down things from the Democrats perspective.

Trump is to mean. He just makes people crumble.

Makes you feel good doesn't it?
It’s really just laughable when a leader of a country is this emotional over a phone call. Poor Justin realizes the gig is up.

And don’t say nothing bad about me on this board, as that might make me seek some psychiatric help. It would just be devastating.

3 months might be a bit quick? Just hope the impact is in good standing before the next election. This change from government money to private will not reverse over night , but I have no fear that the long term is very positive and not just financially

Did you read your own link? No you didn't. You saw the title and and raced to post it. The liberal media ran a misleading headline.

"The Canadian prime minister welled up in what was one of his last public appearances as leader, as he urged the nation to “stand up against the trading partner that is much bigger than us”.

Like I said, it makes you feel good to laugh at somebody that's crying. You got it completely wrong as to the cause. Since you thought he cried because of the phone call, you actually enjoyed more because you thought trump caused it.

You make a habit of laughing at those that cry or just when trump is involved? I guess acting strong and belittling people who show emotion is the trump way. It's certainly not the Christian way. But you guys keep all that stuff buried, doesn't really go well with acting tough.

I'm not your judge. Ask Jesus in your prayers tonight how he feels about it.

Here’s why your boy is stepping down. Again it looks like Trump was mean to him.

As a 28-year Army veteran, I have vast experience with "DoD travel." In the Army and most of DoD it's called Temporary Duty, acronym TDY. In the Navy, it's Temporary Additional Duty, acronym TAD. All military personel and DoD civilians try to go TDY or TAD as often as possible. It gets you out of the office and all food, lodging and transportation is paid by the government. It's a mini-vacation, usually to some fun conference. There's a word for it, it's called a "boondoggle." You can actually make money if you eat cheap.

There is another factor. Each government unit has a TDY budget. But if you don't spend it all during the fiscal year, your TDY budget will be reduced the following year. This actually happened to me at DSCP. My first year there, I was the director of a Business Unit (5 military, 17 civilians) and my BU had about (don't remember the exact number) $6,368 unspent. The following fiscal year my TDY budget was reduced by exactly $6,368. I learned my lesson the hard way - must spend every penny of TDY budget every year! TDY or die!

You're an old man who has reverted back to childhood. How many times did you get stuffed in a locker in high school? How many turned you down for the prom?

You gravitate to the perceived tough guy just like you did with the bully in recess.

9 years is a good run in a parliamentary system. The partys lost faith in him. They need a new PM to deal with this psycho of a president.

Why are we picking fights with one of our best allies and neighbor again? Oh yeah, the president who negotiated the USMCA now says it was a bad deal.

DTS killed a lot of the boondoggling. All your justifications, supervisory approval, and expenses are all in one place. Hard to hide bad travel unless your approver is willing to risk their bacon.
The budget issue is still a problem. I don't know why funds can't be returned to Treasury easily. Not just TDY, any funds really.

Here is a more recent flashback that you must not be aware of.

That's the best you got? Complaints from a house member from Nebraska.

Doesn't matter. Trump told you we are getting screwed and you believe it. This is you scrambling to prove it.

He is being kicked to the curb by his own party and people. Big Dons words were too much to overcome . Kind of reminiscent of what happened to your boy Biden. His party and people didn’t want him either. It’s really hard to satisfy the liberal party when they are so fractured.

Trump said it was because of fentanyl smuggling in the case of Canada and Mexico. I believe that. Don't you?

Why aren't you whining about the China tariffs?

Bone, if you're a "trend" guy, you will understand that if you watch the market, you'll have two good years and then one down year usually. Just spoke with my FA yesterday and he thinks it will improve the last half of this year and be very good in 26.

The last time we had more than three in a row was in the late 90's.

Not in the case of Canada. Maybe Mexico.

Trump loves him some tariffs. He speaks longingly for the late 19th century when HE says high tariffs benefited the country.

He seems to think he can eliminate the income tax thanks to tariffs.

He's got the business and and industry across the country on edge and wondering if the next tariffs are gonna last more than a day. They're wasting time and money trying to adapt to trump's economic whims.

Many economists are predicting a downturn, even a recession because of them.

No worries. His joke of a commerce secretary says all is well. Trump dismisses the concerns as well but won't rule out a recession.

All this for fentanyl? Yeah right.

Now is when you blame Biden.

Just spoke with a friend of mine of many years who owns a manufacturing concern with 1000+ employees. Guess what? He loves Trump and his policies because it allows him to pay his workers more.

I'm actually meeting with my FA today. I've been debating whether to have them manage my investments and have delayed because it's going to cost me 5 figures annually. Tough pill to swallow.

Good for him. Your encounters with friend seem to remarkably coincide with your posts.

What trump policies that he has enacted and have already had an effect in his first 60 days have allowed your friend to pay his workers more?

New Honda plant to be built in Indiana instead of Mexico. Maybe you can get a job.

Parts suppliers that remain outside of the US will be subjected to tariffs. Then the cost of Honda buying those parts will be subjected to higher costs. Also, consumer price increases will remain due to the current tariffs.

If you look at the GM plant in Ft Wayne, there are several suppliers who have moved there. Same with the Honda plant in Greensburg. Having a major corporation move in is a great thing, not a negative.

You aren't going to defend the tariffs on Canada over fentanyl? Oh wait, they are being instituted because they are taking advantage of us over the USMCA that some idiot agreed to. No it's dairy. Eh lumber. Maybe electricity.

"The White House says" is all you need to hear to believe it. Or conservative media.

Explain this to me without bringing up Bagram. Why would a company spend millions of dollars to build new plants here to avoid the trump's tariffs when they could be gone in four years? The next president could be a dem or a real Republican. Unless of course trump is planning a third term.

In addition to the cost, these plants don't happen overnight. Securing the land, infrastructure , design the facility, get it built. They will be lucky to get it built while trump is still in office!! Unless they firmly believe the tariffs are permanent, why would they spend millions to get around a policy that may not still be in place?

Understand this, my encounters are fact. My posts about him liking Trump are fact. I can walk you through his facilities if you'd like. Might even get you a job since you appear to be on a tight budget continually bitching about his economic policies.

Hard for you to believe, I'm sure, but the companies are a lot smarter about their business and futures than a guy who lives in a van down by the creek.

Trump will run for a third term and win. Maybe bigly. By then, you'll even vote for him as a newfound member of the GOP.

Doubt the Honda plant has a need for plywood dog houses.

Maybe you could do some research instead of believing what trump tells you. You know he tends to lie and exaggerate right?

Btw, 2028. They're gonna build a plant to avoid tariffs that may not even be in place when it's done?

Are you doubting the iconic Car and Driver Magazine?

Oh, you actually looked around for info from sources other than trump. Progress.

I don't know if it's happening or not. If it is, good luck getting done in time. Trump will have taken off and added tariffs a hundred times by the time it is built. Companies don't make multi million dollar decisions with this kind of uncertainty. And they made that decision in 60 days lol. Whatever

Speaking as a guy who has managed his own portfolio since circa 1980, I suggest you manage it yourself. These FA's have no choice other than to "play it safe." They tell you to diversify, gotta have some automotive, gotta have some oil companies, gotta have some international, gotta have some pharmaceuticals, on and on. Hey, if you diversify, you don't need a FA. Just buy a spectrum of exchange traded funds and diversify yourself.

My portfolio has concentrated on computer tech since Day One. When the market turns down, don't sell, ride it out. Eeeee Haaaa, Ride It out!
