AP Poll: Purdue remains 16

what a bunch of crap. Wins at MSU, at MD, at OSU and at IU. Now granted, not any top 25 teams there, but still tough places to win for the visiting team.

In WVU's region, but there's a decent chance they'd be knocked out before playing us. I'm not sure how I feel about playing Butler though....
I watched WVU Saturday & I don't think we'd have a problem with them. I know we lost in exhibition game to them, but that was without Cline. There 1/2 court D is terrible & I think we would torch them from 3. I feel better about playing Butler if it's not in Indy. But you have to beat some good teams along the way. They could also go down in that 12/5 matchup if we're lucky.

#4 seed with Gonzaga as the #1, yes please. Wouldn't mind the Butler match-up at all.

Not in our bracket but: He has Duke #4 paired with WIS #5 in Milwaukee. Really doubt that happens.

Note, it looks like that site is getting hammered... here's the error I just got. Definitely a programmer's error message and username:

"User 'stalkerupdate' has exceeded the 'max_user_connections' resource (current value: 30)"

What I love is had we lost to any of those teams we would of dropped 5 spots. Whatever, just get a decent seed for the NCAA and do our talking there.

What's happening is the Big Ten is so devalued that wins within the conference mean almost nothing now while the top teams from the ACC/Pac12/Big 12 stay put when they trade wins with the other top teams in their conferences. With the way the non conference went for the Big Ten this doesn't suprise me at all and was inevitable. The best win between the top 3 teams of Maryland/Purdue/Wisconsin was Purdue's win over ND.That's not going to cut it. IU had some great wins but has tanked in so many other games that they cancelled those wins out. MSU played a tough schedule but dropped every single one of them and had another poor loss. Purdue is the best team in the BT and is positioned now to get the best seed if we keep it up and if they keep themselves in the 3 to 4 seed range all will be good.

a 4/5 Duke-Wisconsin game in Milwaukee would be really interesting, but I agree is highly unlikely.

I'm also starting to think Milwaukee is where Purdue is likely to play the opening round(s) with Louisville and Kentucky in Indianapolis. My sister graduated from Marquette....not too bad a drive for fans from NW Indiana; Purdue would be well-represented I would think.

Lunardi still had Florida State as a 2 seed even after losing yesterday...we are going to have win out just to get recognized apparently.
I really do think this Boiler team is different than years past, and we're a team that most don't want to see come tourney time.

A weakness of metrics. Does not account for the fact that some home courts are worth more than others.
Big Ten has some of the more difficult places to play (Breslin, Ass Hall, C-H, etc.) even when they don't have great teams.

I looked at tickets for both Indy and Milwaukee. Right now they are about $200/ea for all sessions. When PU played in Chicago years ago (VCU) I bought tickets right after the show on Sunday and prices weren't too bad. I'm hoping to do the same thing if we get Indy or Milwaukee.

Station, it is hard to argue with the logic presented in your post. However, I believe that you can call what you described as an example of circular reasoning. And we all know what kind of conclusions that leads one to.

IU hasn't gotten AP votes since Week 10. They were getting Coaches votes up until a couple weeks ago.

But yes, the graph is awesome.

Thanks for pointing that out. Completely missed that it said week 10 at the top. That makes me feel a bit better :) Love the graph though.

What an absolute joke. UF jumps us??? I can see duke but UF??? Why is wisc ranked ahead of us still? And virginia loses and barely moves. My god the bias is so bad. Disgusting

There are three teams I would hate to see PU have to play....UCLA, Butler, and West Virginia. Can't run with UCLA, Butler is a hard team to contain, and WVU and Huggy Bear plays hard for the entire game.

I agree, Florida as an extremely weak schedule, they have only beaten one ranked team and it was at home, and they've got the same amount of losses as Purdue. Not sure how they are getting so much love in the rankings and in the bracket. That being said I like where Purdue is at, still 6 more games to go and all this ranking and bracket stuff is just more motivation.

I can't believe we didn't move up a spot or two, but I'd say that's more of a slap in the face to IU than us. Apparently a win at IU doesn't mean much...
It's actually not as bad as it looks. Purdue's average ballet position went from 17.7 to 15.5. Purdue was in the front of a cluster of vote getters last week, while this week Purdue is within "striking distance" of #11 Wisconsin. If Purdue can win 2 this week, it will certainly move up.

All that matters (and even that's somewhat debatable: you gotta beat whoever's put in front of you) are the seedings. The rankings mean very little at season's end.

Can't wait to see PU's seeding LOL....................the game has gotten too big
Everyone says rankings don't matter...till tourney time that is. Well, minds have been made up. And yes, I do think it is extremely bia$ed (X Files music playing).

Yeah I was waiting for someone ambitious to "dew the math" for us. I assumed that the scenario you described was what happened to cause us to not move up. We have no one to blame but ourselves that the pollsters aren't chomping at the bit to throw us in the top ten. If we had beat Nebraska and Iowa we would be there

Sure seems like we are headed the way of college football playoff rankings up to the playoff so why not just have the committee put out the top 25 teams each week the final four weeks of the season and do away with the useless AP and Coaches polls at that point? Teams will know exactly where they are.

I personally don't waste one minute worrying about where we're ranked this early. I'll watch for our seeding in the BTT and NCAA...that's it. Lose, drop...win, move up. We wouldn't be where we are if we'd taken care of business in a couple of games. WE didn't so oh well. Since the beginning of time, teams drop faster than they move up. We should know this by now. Want to move up faster than other teams? Create a winning culture in your program and the respect will come with it. Maybe it's not fair....deal with it. The chance at a league title is there for the taking. Seriously, it's there. Win the tourney and show the nation how good we are......

Who is John Wilner? How can he be so mistaken? He had IU ranked #1 earlier in the season, still has them ranked at #25...

Purdue has killed themselves by losing to Nebraska , Iowa and Minnesota at home. Those are all 3 horrible losses. Would be top 5 without them.... even if we would have one by a point.

Just keep winning at this point it will work out
