Wow... Was not expecting that kind of a jump. Hopefully it doesn't get to our guy's heads. We haven't been top 10 for a long time, top 5 even longer.
Maybe that will shut up the Debbie Downers for a while. Doesn't surprise me a bit. I thought we would be there after Atlantis. This team has responded incredibly since those 2 losses.
I just hope we don't lay an egg tomorrow night. This team should be focused as UM put it on us twice last year.

Well, to be fair, the tournament game was ours to win and missing free throws cost us.
Like the ranking but now a bigger target on our backs. Teams will play harder against us but that should make us tougher.

I totally agree ... and is the secret sauce that this team has that past teams have not had. And what makes certain games that we struggled with in the past (especially those in which the opponent came back from a large deficit) not nearly so risky this year.

There was a post about this guy a couple weeks ago. Somebody linked to his blog where he basically said he just votes teams based on their best win with little regard to anything else. I'm paraphrasing, but that's about all it amounted to. Also, I'm not sure if he developed this "philosophy" before or after MSU's win over then #9 (now #20) UNC or then #5 (now unranked) UND. But I think I have a hunch...

Spot on. I like our teams to Villaova teams right now. Not flashy, not Duke or Zona's but just damn consistently good. Experience we have right now is such joy watching these kids play. All the heartaches, Cincy, Ak St. etc getting these guys lazer focus. Final four? Possible not probable but Elite 8 definitely in cards for this group. Enjoying this season as much as any ever.
That same idiot has Florida ranked at 8 when they aren't even in the top 25. Moron. He also kept Duke at #2 with a loss. Wonder what he is smoking.
That's funny, because by his very own "metrics", Purdue's best win was against the #2 team in the country, vs. MSU's best win over #5 UND. But something tells me if MSU's best win was over the University of New Delhi he'd still have them at #3. Guy's a DB.
Purdue being in the top 10 is quite an accomplishment but I bet money the team not over looking any team bcuz they are ranked 5. I’ve never cared for ranking bcuz it really is just a number that holds some weight in reguards to seeding maybe but even that means very little if you really think about it bcuz last years final 4 teams only 1 number seed was there. Bottom line purdue basketball team just needs to continue to do what they do ball. This is a veteran experienced with great depth that I’ve always said from the day my son arrived on campus that this team was special and will be very hard to beat. As long as this team stay true to who they are the shy is the limit for this team. I’m sure they are focused on each opponent and not focused on their ranking. They have earned were they are today don’t get me wrong but to me rankings is just a number and I’m sure if I had to put money on it they feel the same way. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish and I bet this team is just focusing on the team they play tomorrow and won’t let ranking go to their heads.
I'm more worried and concerned about beating Michigan . If we do that the ratings and seedlings will take care of themselves.
Oh. I forgot to mention his exception, which was the "everybody beat Arizona that week" clause. Like I said, he shouldn't have a vote.
Yeah, we are just so balanced this year. Our seniors are the traditional Purdue players, but our younger guys bring a good flair of athleticism and energy that we have always been missing.
