Any word on Kendall Stephens...

Prayers to Kendall and all those involved that they may find peace and comfort... Unfortunately it is all to common to lose a friend at that age, but I can't even imagine what it must feel like. After reading many of the previous posts, it is obvious that all Boilermakers can't wait to see Kendall back, and to give him all our support.

I've always liked KS and we should all support him - I can't understand how selfish some people are with their comments - "we are better without him." He's a college student athlete and one of ours. Basketball is a sport - he's dealing with more important issues right now and I hope he comes back and the team can help him heal. I'm sure his dad is disgusted reading some of these comments - especially the thread that was taken down.

Sometimes media Q&A quotes from athletes are very bland and routine, but the quotes from the players (I think after the Iowa game) were really nice. Not that we don't already know it, but they really do like each other.

Purdue would be better off without those people in the fan base. What an embarrassment. They are like the woman who bitched about her bill not being taken care of at a bar because the staff was trying to help a lady dying of a heart attack. It's all about them.

Every fan base has them. What I appreciate about this fan base and forum is, generally speaking, we don't engage too much with them.

I guess I don't understand how people are selfish with those comments. It's an opinion. I don't think it's right but people are allowed to have an opinion about a player without being selfish.

I don't expect him to play. That would be selfish. If he does, great. If he doesn't, it's his life. He doesn't owe us squat. My opinion is that he would be better off playing to get through this time, but again, it's his life and we may not know everything there is to know here either.

Keeping in mind that whenever he does play it could be said that he is 'playing to get through this time'. If he needs a few weeks off then so be it, but he won't be healed when he returns, just a bit less in pain. When you lose someone that is essentially a brother at such a young age that pain will feel very real and be present for a very long time (months, years, not just days or weeks). Some people can go back to work and function, more or less, normally in a short time and others will not be so lucky, depression can be very difficult to overcome.
