Yeah my optimism is gone at this point.Ouch. That's a hurt score.
I'm with you bro even though I'm thinking it will be closer.Yeah my optimism is gone at this point.
Mark Dantonio coaches MSU now, not John L. Smith or the now WR coach at Alabama. That's got a lot to do with why we stopped beating MSU. He's a great coach. What the heck is happening? What's wrong with you people?
How long was I asleep?
Help me out -- I passed out after the MSU game 11/4/2006 up in Lansing - we had beaten the Spartans in 1997, 98, 99, 2001, '02, '05, and '06. Only loss during all that time was a fluke during the Rose Bowl season. We beat Saban. We beat that one coach that slapped himself in the face. We own MSU.
Did I miss something?
Hey, wait a minute... where's Tiller?
I would like to say MSU 41 Purdue 10 but we can't possibly make a field goal so 41-8 MSU...We get a TD and run for the two extra points.
So we're going to find outMSU hasn't been too impressive so far. Their close win over Oregon has lost a lot of its shine after last weekend.
Since we are performing at the MAC level currently, I expect the score to be similar to that of State's wins over CMU and WMU. Also have to factor in that there appears to be no possible way that we will score 3 points (Griggs is in a bad place right now) or 2 points (defense too soft). So, I say we lose 35-14.
It is amazing what he has done there. No doubt about it.Mark Dantonio coaches MSU now, not John L. Smith or the now WR coach at Alabama. That's got a lot to do with why we stopped beating MSU. He's a great coach.
So we're going to find out
Where we would rank in the MAC.
Probably where Kent State ends up.
But. But, we have the best Kent State coach in years surely we can do at least the same? Are you sure we will be that good. They almost beat Minnesota on the road, something we have not done in a long while....
I think IU may have already taken care of bowl eligibility by the time they get to us. If so they'll be playing for a better bowl than 6-6 would get them.Last week I told a buddy I thought it would end up being 41-28 BGSU. This week, I'm going to say MSU 38 Purdue 17, and it honestly won't even look at close.
As with most of you, I came in to the season with lots of excitement and expectations. After the Marshall game, I was disappointed but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt being the first game, on the road, for a program that has struggled to figure out how to win games. I've seen enough at this point, being 4 games in, to determine personally I simply don't see a win the rest of the year...which is really worse than I think anyone could have predicted to start the season.
Of the remaining games, it looks as though Illinois and Indiana appear to be the best chances to win. Does anyone think Purdue will be able to win either of those games right now? Illinois is sitting at 3-1 and IU at 4-0. Indiana will probably be playing for a bowl game against Purdue and Illinois could be looking at getting their 4th or even 5th win against Purdue at that point.
The main question becomes this: If Purdue ends up 1-11, 2-10, or 3-9, what can the AD and Hazell sell to the fans to prevent less than 20k showing up next season? As bad as it is bound to be the rest of the season, how bad will it be next year following a disaster of a season. Think about this: Purdue needs to go 5-3 in conference to get to a bowl game. When was the last time Purdue won 5 conference games?
Agreed - this past off season was the time to fire Shoop. That horse has left the barn...I think IU may have already taken care of bowl eligibility by the time they get to us. If so they'll be playing for a better bowl than 6-6 would get them.
In response to your "main question" there is nothing that can be done to fix attendance next year if this year continues down the path it's on now. Firing Shoop will "seem" like a good fix but it will be obvious we are going to ride a lame duck coaching staff until the contract runs out and MB retires at that point.
IU will have an epic meltdown like they always do. I love it when people start hyping IU in the media. So far, they've played almost nobody and barely won 3 of their games. Southern Illinois was a missed 2-pt conversion from a win. Western KY took them to the wire. Our schedule was much more difficult than theirs in the non-conference.I think IU may have already taken care of bowl eligibility by the time they get to us. I don't want IU to be any better than they have been in the past but they are 4-0 and only need 2 more to get in. They have Rutgers at home. That's 5 so they could easily luck into one more. The reality is that they have a shot at a bowl game and we will be lucky if we have a shot at 2 more wins.IU will have an epic meltdown like they always do. This weekend IU is going to get a healthy dose of reality from OSU. Their impending slide back to reality will begin...
I think this is right. I believe he and Hazell are friends due the OSU/Tressell connection. Dantonio will not likely run the score up on Hazell, even though it wouldn't surprise me if he had the chance.Dantonio is pretty classy. I think we go down like a 28-10 or something like that. I do think we will cover. This is not like Urban Meyer or Bielema back in the day trying to hang 50 and goose em.
