Anthony Watts

Probably picked Purdue so he could play at a bigger school? Hope he can help turn this thing around.

If you read his quotes, this seems like the softest-of-softest "commitment" one can imagine. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing for a different school.

Obviously nothing's guaranteed til they sign on the dotted line, but what "quotes" lead you to believe this is the softest of the softest?

Wow! What negativity. That is the only thing that flows from this fanbase. Can we not be a little positive and be happy that a kid wants to join the program? IMO even if Hazell signed 5* athletes the rest of signing period it still wouldn't be enough for some. Show some support.

I understand people's angst, I really do. But this board has gotten so negative that many consider you a part of the problem if you support the program. Anyway, I really don't want to bring out anymore of the negative nancies to a thread that was obviously started to welcome this young man to Purdue. So I would like again to welcome Mr Watts to the program

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

It's one thing to be overly critical of decent recruiting classes. But Purdue's recruiting class has been literally at the bottom of the Big Ten every year under Hazell

It's not like Purdue's been putting together classes worthy of "middle of the pack" Big Ten and we aren't satisfied.

I mean it's just reality: signing 2 star projects is NOT going to fix the problems. You can't just continue to recruit at the bottom of the Big Ten and expect different results. That's my biggest problem with Hazell is he has shown ZERO in-roads and improvements with recruiting (and quite frankly, his best class is the one that Hope mostly put together for him).

I get it, a thread started to welcome a young man to Purdue should definitely be spun negatively. I take back my other posts. There's been a scarcity of negative threads on here for me to jump in on. So take a hike Watts you 2* chump. Is that better? A lot of you guys must lead truly shitty lives

A thread to mention and welcome any kid to the program regardless his * ranking and it instead is a thread about how he will probably land somewhere else. That is the negativity that this program has had all season. Burke, Hazell, Shoop, Hudson, all negative. Some are deservedly so but when does the positive support out weigh the negative and we ALL start to back this team again. Can't wait until the coordinators are hired so I can read all the so called experts on here claim how bad those hires will be as well.

Again, I think there's a reality factor. As someone who has paid attention to this board for 10 years, I don't think it's really overly negative. Quite frankly, this board was pretty satisfied with Hazell's hire. And the backing of Hope on this board lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. People on here regularly defended Hazell's recruiting classes on this forum, even as it was ranked at the bottom of the Big Ten.

However, eventually people find reality. The coordinators are a great example - the coordinator changes are being made too late. Now, you have a lame duck coach hiring 2 very important positions and you wonder who will take the job? I certainly don't have high expectations. But regardless of who is hired (just as regardless of who a recruit that commits is), at the end of the day it is a mismanaged program by the head coach.

The fact of the matter is that half of our team is lucky to be playing Big Ten football. Is that a personal attack? Heck no. I don't personally rip our players on this forum.

I am not endorsing every post made in this thread as appropriate. But again, back to reality, if we want to improve our football team, 2 star projects are not going to be the ones that do it. It's not a rip on the kid - fill out a class with these types of guys, I think it's great. And at the end of the day, as I said in my original post, it comes down to Hazell. He has not made any improvement in recruiting since arriving. It's not being negative when it's reality.

Yes welcome fine sir....hope you cherish your time as a Boilermaker because we are Boilermakers for life!

I think he will be a good middle clogger DT on defense......but I have to be honest, when I saw his tape and frame I see Offensive Guard or Tackle......big bulldozer of a man with strong legs and arms...solid base.

Either way Boiler Up!

You might be correct, but we are desperately thin at DT. Im surprised they havent gone after JUCO DTs

DT Alex Criddle was on campus this weekend as well 6'4 310 2* (I can hear the groans now) has an offer from Vandy. From Oklahoma for what it's worth.

Again, there IS a reality factor here. I mean your post is fine, but it's 4 bleeping paragraphs of recruiting/coaching woes on a thread started to welcome a recruit to Purdue! There's gobs of other threads for you to get this off your chest/enlighten us all. Just pick the latest AD/Coach/BOT/recruiting sucks threads, cut & paste it on in there. Do you go to a birthday party and say happy birthday, your a year closer to being dead? Congratulations on your wedding, 50% of these things end in divorce

Agreed with Pub1986 here---
There is no shortage of threads/ comments throughout this board (mine included) that rip into Hazell and the mess he has created.

But this particular thread ain't the place for more of it, regardless of how many years any one of us has been filling up these boards with our immense wisdom and scary insight....

Welcome to Purdue, Anthony!

I don't post but I gotta say thanks.....I have had great reading for 3 years now. When I feel down I come here and read a few threads and realize it could always be worst....I could be a Purdue fan.

Happy losing .....

For a football team that has went to 2 (counting this year) crappy bowls in 15 to 16 years, IU fans know more about these feelings than we do. After this bowl, they should be able to make plans in 2022 or 2023 for the next one.

This, boys and girls, is the PERFECT quintessence of the paint-chip- munching stupidity that is IU fan..
He says: " I don't post", then he promptly posts something.

This genius and that hilbisky dope are living proof of why cousins should not marry....

Wow, just did a quick scan of the history of iu football and man, you must feel down...a lot. And you gotta realize, it does not get any worse than that

You are right. Nothing but firing coaches pleases some on here. Over the years they wanted to fire Keady...Tiller...Hope...Painter...and of course now it's Hazell. You guys should show support for the Boilers and be more positive.

You think Hazell is doing a good job?
