And here comes the Title IX wrecking ball, right on cue.

But it doesn't matter because sooner or later women athletes will file suit when a school sends literally all of their athletic funding towards men's football and basketball.
Exactly. The article references the Bay area lawyer who's filed a lot of similar lawsuits for women in sports. If there's money to be made, the suits will be filed. And this is a very big, and deep pile of moolah.

I had read many institutions had already made nil contracts with their male athletes expecting to use 85% of their nil money on football.

It will be interesting to see what happens if they have to go back and cancel those contracts already made.

One step closer to semi-pro league sans the NCAA. That is one big humming wrench
I can see both sides of this argument. If you think about the payment as the university paying athletes for their work like employees then it would seem unfair to not pay all athletes. If you deem the payment as the university reimbursing athletes who the university has made money from then it doent make sense to pay all athletes. I personally feel like the ncaa has already screwed this up past the point of being rectified without litigation or laws being created. Many of these athletes are being paid well above their value to the university through the current nil system in the revenue sports. If they try to create a system where the university does some sort ofvrevenue share it will just end up in court so dont do it.

Tie the revenue sharing to a percentage of the ticket and concessions sales. Maybe even 100% of it. Fund the rest of the AD with the TV money.

But this issue is probably headed to SCOTUS.
It seems crazy universities are laying off people to pay kids who most of whom dont contribute to the revenues that are gained through mens football and basketball. You could argue that in many cases the players benefit more from the exposure of playing for a large university whos every game is televised than the university.

Sad but true. Universities are laying off employees and cutting employee wages in order to pay athletes who have zero loyalty to the university

I actually think that would be hilarious if these obscure female athletes make as much off revenue sharing as the football and men’s basketball players. Even though they’re actually a drain on every single athletic department.

The vast majority of athletic programs men and women are a drain.

Sometimes even men's basketball is a drain at some schools.

Why not call it profit sharing vs revenue sharing. The numbers would reflect all sports including womens and much smaller to 0 dollars except for a small % of universities.

A lot of dudes are going to turn into dudettes for that NIL bag. This experiment is going south in a hurry. Feels like Cartman is in charge...

Athletes are quickly going down the path to becoming paid performers rather than students. Colleges can no longer afford to have athletic teams that don’t generate revenue. Look at how few men’s volleyball and gymnastics teams that exist.

The future looks like private entities will be contracted to perform. Purdue will pay a football entity to make 12 performances. They will rent out their stadium. The entity will not have to attend school.

Basketball will be the same. It will be like the Harlem globetrotters. People will come to see a performance hosted by Purdue at Mackey. It will be much like the men of Mackey.

These private entities will compete for their TV made championships much like America’s got talent and Dancing with the stars. Basically that’s what you have now. OSU vs nd in a made for TV special complete with celebrity announcers.

Title 9 shouldnt apply to this and you libtards know that.
Can you stop the name calling. I doubt you are a lawyer. Just because you don’t want something to happen doesn’t mean it isn’t still the law. This law is not for fans to decide. Title 9 has been around since Nixon. If you don’t like it, why haven’t you changed it? Then again, if there are no consequences from breaking it, does a law exist?

Being in tune to the outside world, I don’t see Title 9 lasting as a law past this January. Forget equality . WWE wrestling and football reigns supreme! Everything in life is about $$$ and bit coins

Nobody is saying Title 9 shouldn’t exist. What we are saying is that people shouldn’t be forced to get compensated with money they didn’t generate. There’s a difference between scholarships and cold hard cash IMO.

Nice mouth, i thought this was an adult level forum not a name calling children’s forum. Itwas a Republican Conservative President that signed it into law! So if you are used to breaking laws you know the consequences!

Republican aren’t the ones who chose to apply Title 9 to revenue sharing.
