.........proves we have others that can step up in clutch time!!! Don't always have to feed Biggie!
It will be interesting to see what we do next time in this situation if Biggie is still in the game..........proves we have others that can step up in clutch time!!! Don't always have to feed Biggie!
Thats not my point if you read correctly............others can take the last shot if need be....Ehh, kind of. But we aren't in that game and probably down double digits without Biggie. He was HUGE!
If nothing else, it makes Purdue less predictable. It will be interesting to see what we do next time in this situation if Biggie is still in the game.
He might be a Pippen type, while a great NBA player and named to the Top 50 players he struggled mightily when he became the man when Jordan took the hiatus between Championship runs! Coach Jackson knew it and made sure he was not in that position when the game was on the line to take the last shot, it made him mad but Jackson did what he had to do to win the game.If nothing else, it makes Purdue less predictable. It will be interesting to see what we do next time in this situation if Biggie is still in the game.

Well in the Nebraska game biggie was there and went a few possessions at the end without touching the ball. Complained about it and then fumbled the pass the baseline driver made Lots of players have made huge shots during crunch time, but Biggie has to be a priority...just not the whole show. Read the D...make the best read and don't force it then stand aroundIt will be interesting to see what we do next time in this situation if Biggie is still in the game.

OT: Not sure I buy this. Those Bullies were 1 bad call from making the Finals while Michael was (ahem) retired. No way could the Celtics have done that without Bird.

Honesty, as good of a rebounder as Biggie is, I'd almost rather see anyone else take a shot with 4 or 5 seconds left and let Biggie work the glass for a put back if they miss.Well in the Nebraska game biggie was there and went a few possessions at the end without touching the ball. What the hell are you smokin..........only logic if you can actually comprehend..... is the fact we have at least 2-3 others quite capable of taking the last shot on this team! Point wasn't made that anyone but biggie is capable.........sounds like you have a job with the LIB press....Technically anyone on the roster can take the last shot. Hell we could burn the Haarms redshirt by this logic.
Nothing wrong with that,,,just depends on game.Honesty, as good of a rebounder as Biggie is, I'd almost rather see anyone else take a shot with 4 or 5 seconds left and let Biggie work the glass for a put back if they miss.
And if Carsen gets that ball up around the rim, I think Haas was there for the put back.Honesty, as good of a rebounder as Biggie is, I'd almost rather see anyone else take a shot with 4 or 5 seconds left and let Biggie work the glass for a put back if they miss.
Haas is not a quick jumper and gets few put backs, but he might get the board and get fouledAnd if Carsen gets that ball up around the rim, I think Haas was there for the put back.
Yep. Still like the play. Most of the time he'll make it, get fouled, or get the ball up on the rim for one of our bigs.Haas is not a quick jumper and gets few put backs, but he might get the board and get fouled

Foul with 2 seconds to go...not much time for that much cargo to get the board after it hits the rim, finds the ball and gathers himself unless you just mean in a general sense?

I honestly think CE is our best option for an end of the game play like that. No one else on our team can consistently create a shot. And I totally agree with the previous poster...put Biggie in position to gather a rebound if necessary.
When Biggie takes several dribbles, I rarely feel good about how the play is going to end. When he is decisive, good things seem to happen.Or get it to Swanigan (or Haas) and have them pass it out to someone. I hope to see Swanigan pass it more. I don't really view him as selfish, but he held onto the ball too long on several occasions today. Reminds me of Hammons some - made it way too predictable. When you are playing against a good team that has personnel to match you, that's not usually successful.
That was in reference to a poster liking the set because he thought Haas could get the put back not because I thought he would get the putbackHe wouldn't have gotten the board because he had been shoved out of bounds by Dodd.
We ended up lucking out - if the MD defender hadn't come in and fouled, the shot would have gone nowhere as Dodd had shoved his way into good position. Either way, there were 2 different fouls you could have called on that play.

Vinnie and "the jets" get in the zone a few different ways. When the zone is mesmerised by the ball, Vinnie comes from behind the zone unseen for boards. Other times Vinnie just shoots the gap on the weak side to get his boards and then there are other times that Vinnie and "another" attack the same area of the zone making the defender think WTF...which one should I block out? Vinnie and "the jets" like getting inside the zoneVinnie aint bad on the offensive glass, either.....for those games where he's more in the "zone."
Oh no....I said the word.
