For the young players who came here with the mindset of playing early-no doubt someone will step up from the linebacker corps. Someone who was thinking “how am I going to get on the field with Nick Holt coming into town as a transfer and being DC’s son?”

It will be someone no one was expecting to see step up and that’s why college football is awesome! Time to cheer loud Saturday, we need a 12th man if ever right now!

What's the story on Jack Smith? Second year 3-star Florida kid. There was some buzz when Brohm flipped him from Syracuse. Not much since. Now somebody named Kieren Douglas is listed on the depth chart, but no Jack Smith.

I totally agree with your post, except that Ben Holt is the LB that was also all over the field Saturday, and Nick Holt is the DC. I'm not slamming you; I just wanted to make that clear.

I look for Cornel Jones to step up big-time. They guy is damn good if he can get his emotions in check and not get dead-ball penalties. A lot of people on this board wanted him to replace Ben Holt after the Nevada game. Now they will play together. I am super bummed for Marcus, but I think you will watch Jones turn into a beast. He gets to the QB often.

Jones will replace Bailey in the starting lineup. Douglas is a transfer walkon from Army.

As for Smith, he is playing special teams. May not be ready to contribute on D.

That's unfortunate. He had more P5 offers than Alexander and Jones combined.

Jones was overlooked for some odd reason. Guy is talented. Not sold on Alexander yet
