Aaron Wheeler just committed

Awesome!

His game reminds me of Melvin Buckley........

Looking forward to seeing him play in Gold and Black.

Love it, Haarms, Wheeler and possibly Eastern and Ondigo or Haase.

Boiler Up!

Melvin Buckley? Ugh. Hope that's not the case.

Kid was a hell of a player......showed some potential at Purdue and then went on to do great things at South Florida.

Now an entertainer....confident kid with ability.

So why the negative comment, I see Wheeler as same potential and more.

I always liked Buckley
Probably tried to extend himself too much on those teams,
But I think he would excel much more on a team/ roster like we have today

I think this is a good add, and I'm betting we get a commit from an international player next.

From what I've seen, this guy can block shots. I'm really excited to see what he'll do in a Purdue uniform.

rumor has it he can block shots without a Purdue uniform as well. Seriously, there is not enough video to know what he brings and his head to know what he may get. He does appear to be able to put the ball on the court and move without the ball being in his hands. He has nice size for a 3, but a little light which will be addressed. He had good programs interested in him and so he seems like a solid player. He is not going to make a name for himself his first year, but could turn into a really good player. He is a good addition, not great, but good addition to this team. I hope he becomes a great addition...

No offense, but just looked up Mel's Purdue stats, and he is what I thought he was: 5 points and 2 boards a game. Meh.

Could not possibly care less what numbers he put up on 2 awful south Florida teams, that got the coach fired.

Not being negative about wheeler, I'm just hoping for a lot closer to Vince than Buckley.

Understood and I value your opinion....

IMO facts do matter and Buckley was a good player at SFU after urdue and Wheeler reminds me of Buckley.

Glad he s a Boiler!

Stats matter, but i don't value numbers put up on a losing team all that much.

Was Buckley terrible? No, I just hope Wheeler is better.

Excited to have Wheeler, and yes he was recently starting to gain some national attention. Virginia, Boston College, Georgetown, etc..He fills a need with VE being a senior next year, but has the luxury of working under him.

Full court press on Eastern at this point-

If Purdue can grab Eastern I would consider this a really nice class. A 5 , a 3 and a 1 or sometimes 2 that are versatile.

Wheeler looks like a nice pickup. Love to have Eastern, but our chance is very very low with him or Ondigo. I hope I wrong on this.

Wheeler seems to be a solid pickup. I like any commitment we have, as long as they're fully invested in the program and is willing to sacrifice for the better of the team.

Plus, as stated above, he'll have a year under VE (hopefully) to develop and learn some things, and he'll definitely be learning a few things under Basil. You can teach 6'6-6'8 wings who can do a little bit of everything. That is the way the game is played now, with versatile players who can play the 2-4 at any given time during a game.
