A LOUSY CHOICE FOR AD

Congratulations to the Purdue Administration! They were able to select probably the worst AD currently working at any major university! Georgia Tech is so happy to see him go, they most likely would have agreed to cover his Purdue salary for some period of time just to get rid of him!

This pick will assure Purdue athletics, especially football, will remain a Big Ten cellar dweller for the foreseeable future!

Ya, Georgia Tech fans might or might not have a very good read on what Bobinski can do for Purdue. I'm willing to give him a chance.

Of course, I said the same thing about DH1 and DH2...

PB1941 - Bobinski's tenure at GT was a classic case of how not to be an AD! He was rarely seen, very disengaged, couldn't get along with the football coach, unpopular with alumni donors and had a large turnover of dept. personnel. One of his crowning achievements was the fiasco regarding the football's team upcoming trip to Dublin to play Boston College. Instead of picking a regular airline like Delta for the flight, the plan was to use a cargo service and a converted cargo plane! I did admire his pick of a new basketball coach, but he waited too long to get rid of the other one!

Perhaps the so-called qualifications he has shown are what Purdue was looking for, if so, it does not bode well for the future of Purdue athletics especially football!

3-years at G.Tech. its not enough to pass judgement and the air lines that he picked is good enough to fly our military then its good enough for a collage football team. I disagree with your opinion,we have to give the man a chance. He wasn`t my pick I wanted to the A.D.from Ohio U. a Purdue grad

Everything I've read outside of this board has been 100% positive...so I check in here for only the second or third time all year, and immediately the negativity rushes out and knocks me to my knees. Why don't you chill out and if you aren't willing let this man even be on the job before you open your mouth, then just STFU! This man has not even worked one day and already you want to hang him. You are either a total loser or simply a moron.

What kind of adult takes the time to come an opposing schools message board and spew their sour grapes. Who has time for that. Wow dude, get a grip.

Hello Bearded Boiler - I graduated from Purdue and happen to live outside of Atlanta and I do follow Purdue & GT football and know some people at GT. The consensus at GT is they are happy Bobinski is gone! That being said, what is it that Purdue sees in Bobinski that was evidently missing for 3 years at GT?

GT has had two ADs depart within three years. Both were pretty much lateral transfers so maybe the situation at Tech isn't so great.

And this "Sasquatch" nonsense. Maybe Bobinski was spending time on a private email account in his search for a new head coach in hoops. If he used the school's email, all info could be revealed with a FOIA.

The airplane criticism is simply dumb. Do you think MB did that himself or just had a subordinate do it? And an aircraft that transports our troops to the Mideast isn't good enough for the GT football team?

Based on his performance at GT, the AD choice will probably turn out the same as the choice of Hazell as head coach! How great has that been working out?

Maybe you should just stay away from this board if it upsets you so much.

Hello Boiler 800, the board does not upset me! What upsets me is how poor the football program has become; and since the new AD is not a football man this hire is not going to improve an already lousy situation.

Furthermore, his performance at GT was mediocre at best, so I doubt his performance at Purdue will be any better!

In response to "buygreekbonds", the charter incident is just an example of him not being involved in overseeing the activities of the athletic dept. It's interesting to note that several high school teams from the Atlanta area will also be playing in Dublin at the same time, and their AD's made arrangements for Delta charters!

if the hire turns out to be a good hire, are all the haters going to get on the board and say how they jumped the gun, and how they should have waited to see what happens before saying how bad someone will be before they have done anything? Maybe it was a bad hire, but I really don't think anyone knows for sure.

I'll say it again. Why is a charter carrier that transports our troops to the Mideast not good enough for the GT football team?

BTW, I'm retired military and my wife and I have flown Space A on military "cargo" aircraft many times (C-130 and C-141). We'd far prefer it to flying on commercial carriers.

Seconded. Anyone trying to knock flying on one of those has never been on one.

I don't know if this is a good hire or not, time will tell, but I would rather fly on a military plane than be crammed on a commercial one.

Well, if this was the worst thing that they could dig up on Bobinski as an AD then he's a good hire in my book. George King hired DeMoss, Burtnett, Akers and Colletto. Check out those turkeys.

If criticism of the new AD before he has started his job here doesn't upset folks on here, then that explains why I quit reading this chat for months at a time. And for those upset with the football program, well I'm with you, but the new AD has nothing to do with Purdue Football before he starts his new job as AD, it is then and only then that he assumes responsibility for PU football. This post bashed our new AD before he is actually our AD. Yes this bothers me. The opinions in the media, outside of this board have been overwhelmingly positive.

Why do we have to give him a chance?

What we need is for people who were telling everyone they were stupid for not seeing it with Hazell to stop being homers and allow people to think what they will.

Obviously any criticism would not pertain to purdue yet, it was primarily related to his time, relationships, results at GT

GT has a coach who was 3-9 last year and is trying very hard to blame someone other than himself. Hey, the AD hired a air carrier that might not meet my doofus standards. Let's go apeshid over that! THAT's the problem, not the coach.

SIBoiler2 - Based on the actions taken by the school administration, first hiring Hazell and then Bobinski, it's hard to believe that a successful football program is a priority for them, and until that changes Purdue football will continue to struggle.

Well at least MB is gone, gone, gone! I just hope the same mentality that gave DH a 6 year guaranty didn't give the new AD such nice terms. If he is a dog maybe we can get him gone in 2/3 yrs. This should spell the end of the for DH, I'm sure he has his resume's out right now extolling his awesome record at Purdue. I am resigned to the fact we will have a 0,1,or 2 win season, per the usual DH level of football excellence. TIME TO MOVE ON.

Breaking up is hard to do Georgia Tech. You'll get over it and these feelings of lashing out will cease.

I am going to give Purdues new AD a chance.I believe when a person is hired for any job, they deserve it.
