A little perspective.

None of us were happy losing to St Pete's, since we all thought we had the Golden ticket to the FF this year. As is usually the case, after a disappointing loss, the assassins came after Painter and told us what a crappy coach he is.

A few short years ago, when we came within 5 seconds of a FF, we almost unanimously felt Painter was a very good coach and we were happy to have him. A few years later and he's become a drooling fool, who needs help tying his shoes. Popularity is such a fleeting thing...

I just thought I'd give you a little perspective on where Purdue's BBall program compares to our brethren in the B1G. There have been 16 NCAATs, since Painter took over the BBall program at Purdue. Getting in the door is a significant measurement of the program's success. Here's a list of where the B1G teams rank in NCAAT appearances over Painter's tenure:

School - # of appearances.
MSU - 16
UW -- 15
PU -- 13
O$U - 13
UM -- 11
MD -- 8
IU -- 8
IA -- 7
IL -- 7
MN - 5
RU -- 2
PSU - 1
NW - 1
NE -- 1

As long as Painter keeps getting us into the tournament, we have a chance to advance. There are only 2 other programs, who have been to the dance more than us, during Painter's tenure. Whenever the compulsion to trash our HC occurs, remember that we could be in a much worse position. OK, you can go back to lighting the torches and grabbing pitchforks.
