Heard PU is going to make a run at a handful of instate kids committed to IU including the Carmel kids. Also Mac Hippenhammer out of FW who is committed to Penn State. Dual sport guy who also is a baseball guy. Whether anything happens idk.

Another name to watch is Mykelti Williams. If you remember he committed to ND out of Warren Central. Now at Juco. Kelly was high on him at Nd but got caught up academically. He is a safety.

Good luck poaching the guys committed to IU.

You worried? I know if I was an IU fan, I'd be a bit nervous that Purdue actually has a competent coach who isn't afraid of recruiting at elite high schools in the state.

You do realize that if Brohm had been here instead of Hazell, you guys wouldn't have Jacob Robinson, Coy Cronk, Britt Beery, or Brandon Knight? They'd all be in Purdue uniforms. Those days thankfully are over now.

didn't realize Williams was at a JUCO. Looks like Coach Shepherd recently followed on twitter.

Not worried at all. All of the IU commits are solid especially the Carmel kids as they are actively recruiting Lynn Bowden to join them. Allen is also very close to flipping a linebacker committed to the Vols so our recruiting will be just fine.

Anyone know if Williams is a mid year guy or no?

I'm sure your recruiting in Indiana will be fine but it's a question mark as to how it'll be in other places. You guys are absolutely taking a gamble in hiring Allen.

I think Allen is a nice hire and from the coaches at the high school I coach at, is really well liked in the state. One of the few coaches one of our assistants said will actually spend time with a coach, answer their questions, and look them in the eye. He said Hazell NEVER did that and seemed to be too consumed by himself. And another coach said...Wilson was an assbag.

I think Allen is a good hire but a total safe hire as well. I'm not sure he has what it takes to get them over the 5-6 win plateau that Wilson moved the program to.

According to people I know that are involved with high school football in Indiana a lot of high schoolers seemed to be excited about Brohms offense more so than his defense.

With what's committed and what's on the roster, OL seems to be the biggest need moving forward, but I bet they'll be a big uptick in the skill level of offensive skill level guys next year and moving forward.

Defensively not having a DC and having limited slots is a hindrance. Coaches can sell playing time but the team will probably have to win shoot outs this coming season

I agree with most of these points. Playing in the B1G East certainly does us no favors as far as W-L record. I think Brohm was a good hire also but there are also no guarantees with him at Purdue either. He had success at WKU but he has never had to build a program from the ground up which is what he will have to do at Purdue. Bobby Petrino left him a pretty stable situation at WKU.

I think I have to disagree with your point in building WKU. He was with Petrino as his OC at WKU, so he had a definite hand in building that roster as every player on that roster he probably had a hand in recruiting or building. 4 years of success at WKU with his other list of accolades makes for a great hire for Purdue and one where I think he understands exactly what needs to be done at Purdue. Purdue fans aren't expecting a 10 win season in the next 3 years because most are very rational about the rebuilding process...but it isn't unlikely that Brohm takes the roster and gets to 4-6 wins next season and then 5-7 the next year, and probably with a favorable schedule in 2019 gets to 7-9...that would be a huge boost to the program if that is done.

Petrino was only at WKU for one year.

You lost anything solid when you guys fired Wilson. Welcome back to the basement where IU football belongs.

The fact of the matter is....that to date Brohm has his Boot On The Ground and is making recruiting headway already......great early sign that we have not seen in the past...

His midyear class 9 days after hiring may be more impactful than any of Hazells full classes on NSD in Febraury.

2 OL and a speedy WR....with hopefully more to come

Someone had mentioned Tyler Hamilton from SC was signing for a January enrollment in another thread.

Yes. anxiously awaiting two safeties and maybe another OL. Am I missing anyone?

Possibilities? Maybe my Christmas wish list....but here goes:

Darius Pittman - TE former WKU committ *** (Edit: Committed to Purdue now!)
BJ Sharpe - DE former WKU committ ***
TJ Jallow - Safety (JUCO) *** (Edit: Committed to Purdue now!)

Now to really dream....
Rosie Potts son - safety from Fishers ****
Britt Beery - DE carmel already firm to IU ***
George Moore - OL former WSU commit ***
More OL from somewhere

It would not surprise me if we got 4 out of those 5 or on the otherhand 0 for 5 either. However, no way Beery flips from IU-just read some of his twitter posts-he is "all in"

I might add Khalil Newton , if he leaves WKU.

two names to add. OL Moore, and DE/OLB Kai Higgins. Both players just received offers from Purdue in the last 2 days. Moore was a 3 * 6'7 280-300 lb verbal to Washington State - the same school Shepard coached at. he's obviously recruiting him for Purdue now. Higgins is a 6'4 240 weak side DE /OLB JuCo from Chaffey college. That's the same college Purdue was recruiting an offensive lineman who ended up committing to UCLA.

Moore appears to have gotten quite a few offers....after committing to WSU. Be a very good get....just not sure much of a chance. Definitely worth giving it a shot though.

A timeline notte: Moore just decommitted from Wash St yesterday after receiving an offer from Purdue and his former Wash St Coach Sheppard. He also has offers from Missouri, Cal and Oregon St, as well as Purdue who just entered the picture. On the plus side, he decommitted from Wash St the day after receiving an offer from Purdue, and now wants to weigh all his options. Obviously our offer was the one that made him want to take a step back before deciding.

I wonder if he's a midyear guy or not

Interesting...I hadn't heard Moore decommited from WSU. That certainly increases our odds

Moore was anticipated to be a mid year signee. He just tweeted his decommitment from Wash St about 4 hours ago and said he wouldn't be signing with Wash St today. based on his tweets, Oregon St is after him hard. However, they offered in October, and he didn't decommit until he received an offer from Purdue yesterday. and Shepard was the guy who convinced him to commit to Wash St. I'm not sure he wants to come to the Midwest. he would be a tough sell, but he's a quality 3* OL, almost a 4*. Brohm and company are really pushing hard on signing some JuCo linemen.

Darius Pittman has committed to Purdue.

Jallow to announce later today....

I like how Brohm and Shepard are trying to bring some guys with them. It makes since if they were the main ones recruited certain players how the players might follow them to Purdue. I hope they can at least get some linemen.

Moore is a top 25 juco according to scout. Definitely looks the part.
