Damn Painter for not having these Spainards ready to play!Don't get too excited they have to be playing a really sad team
Must be really difficult to find your way back home since the PeegStye moved to Scout and you can't find your way off Rivals.Don't get too excited they have to be playing a really sad team
He should have recruited some JUCO's for them.Damn Painter for not having these Spainards ready to play!
Thanks for stopping by, geek.
I don't recall anyone saying that. They just are not pissing all over every positive statement someone makes.I'm a Purdue fan but I'm not the type to over-react on how good or bad we're going to be. One thing I will not do is get overly happy on what they're doing overseas. But I guess if you guys want to start hollering out national championship go right ahead .
Assuming you legitimately want to know...there has been a trend of negative comments raining down on any glimmer of fun or joy expressed on this board. People understand that they did not play Duke, Kentucky, and Kansas the last few days but we don't need someone telling us not to enjoy the wins or be excited about a fun to watch freshman. Try telling us what you liked along with some things you saw that need work. Much more interesting to read than another guy telling me not to get excited because the opposition sucks. The back breaker on you for me was your reply when it was pointed out that the first team we played beat Arkansas. Told me that you are either a troll or just a contrarian at best.I wasn't pissing on anybody's statement I was just making a fact not putting Purdue down just wish we had played better competition so we can get a better gauge on our team. How is that saying something negative are putting something positive down I don't get it please explain
Here is the thing...at least from my eyes. The talent level the last couple of games were not Big talent and not top level talent in D1. There was talent the first game and some size missing the last two games...can't recall much about the second game. However, it took almost the whole game for the first team talent...which was a nice level of competition to be played by the starters to be in a game with a Purdue team that was floating people in and out and hadn't really practiced a lot of scrimmaging prior to that game. That same team did beat Arkansas. I also think the Purdue team got better. What we do know are the capabilities of everyone expected to get a lot of minutes except Carsen, Spike and Basil and they are not totally unknown. We also learned that Carsen is an offensive scoring talent and a talent that cannot have a team cheat on him with the other Purdue talent on the floor. What we learned is that Purdue has a very steady heady player in PJ that on a given night can knock down the 3 ball. We also know that Spike will play smart and gradually get his touch back to help spread things when needed and hit FT's towards the end of the games and then there is Carsen a little more aggressive than the other two, with enough quickness to nullify some pressing and the ability to quickly heat up and change a game in a couple of minutes. Take the known player skill levels and the additional ball handlers and there is reason to be optimistic. I'm not sure how Basil fits in (stopper, hustle player?), but he will be needed as well. The game is more offensive than a few years ago and this team will be more offensive. My concern in shell defense and containing the dribble. When I looked at the blowout stats...Purdue dominated the stats other than the other team got to the line more and it wasn't getting more rebounds and picking up fouls that got the team there. It is not impressive to me that Purdue won by so much, but there were things to be impressed with considering such little practice against teams that probably have practiced a lot.Assuming you legitimately want to know...there has been a trend of negative comments raining down on any glimmer of fun or joy expressed on this board. no question that is "a" goalI look at these trips a as a way to enhance team bonding, have some fun and steal a few extra practices to see what needs work and what our strengths are,
Riiiiight...I'm a Purdue fan but I'm not the type to over-react on how good or bad we're going to be. One thing I will not do is get overly happy on what they're doing overseas. But I guess if you guys want to start hollering out national championship go right ahead .

I feel the best Purdue offense in a long time coming this season. Not sure about the D yet but I would rather have to teach defense than develop offensive skill once the season starts. This kind of brings IU to mind. They had great offensive skill last season but didn't start winning until they got it defensively.65 points in a half isn't easy, even if the opposition plays matador defense. I didn't look at the box score but the shooting percentage and points per possession in that half had to have been outrageous.
Andy, I think you called this one correctly. If this troll had any real interest in Purdue basketball, he would have watched at least part of the game. To take the effort to post all this negative stuff, ever since his first post, indicates this is just a troll and not a fan.Better competition? You didn't watch the game and stated that Purdue has "to be playing a really sad team."
Troll.
Nothing posted here should be considered "realism" because it is all based on an individual's perception and nothing more.Wow, could the optimistic forum police be anymore out of control on this thread? I don't know is the guy is a troll or not, but his point is valid: the team Purdue is playing in this game is terrible. And you can see that after watching one minute of the video.
In the first minute, we get the tip; Vince ( I think) misses a WIDE open three; we get the rebound and the ball goes out of bounds. We run an out-of-bounds play and Haas is wide open and sealed his man right under the basket and Swanigan is able to just step forward and catch the ball five feet from the basket with no one on him; Swanigan misses the shot and after some action and the ball goes out of bounds again. We run a similar OB play (not the same) but with an even better results. Haas once again seals his man right under the basket for an easy layup, but Swanigan (AGAIN) is able to step right up and catch the ball, this time, two feet from the basket and bank in a layup.
Just from this first minute, the guy's point is shown to be valid. Is there any, ANY D1 level teams that Purdue could run basically the same out-of-bounds against twice in the same minute and get the choice of two layups??? Of course not.
I agree that Purdue has a chance to be very good offensively next year, and very, very good overall.
But there are still major questions to be answered (defense after losing our two best defensive players who were back-to-back Big Ten D-Players of the year).
Please have some realism and remember that these teams are not too good, and the particulaur team on the video is terrible.

Vile: You are correct this team is very bad. The criticism of the "real deal" person is that he joined on August 4th and has posted nothing but garbage in numerous threads.Wow, could the optimistic forum police be anymore out of control on this thread? Ouch. Thanks for the reminder... that season was a disasterI have no dog in this fight as its a "big unknown" who PU played in Spain.
Tho I did find this from the last trip. If I recall, PU finished last in the BIG after this trip. Not making any suggestions, just providing prior experience with the foreign trip. Good luck this season.

Leaving that memory behind for a moment, I must admit I'm not as much of a critic of Miller and his site as some on here are. He pushes out a lot of free content and he tries to make it entertaining, even if not always positive. But wowsers, he really missed the mark on his Donnie Hale write-up.
