No, they deserved to be being a conference champion. That's different than being able to win a national championship.
They definitely deserved to be in , I don’t think they should get a top 4 seed cause they won their conference. Should be like the basketball tournament. Seed them regardless less of winning a conference. And while I’m on this let’s eliminate the conference championship and start the playoffs earlier
Football just isn't for determining a national championship but also determining conference championships.
the top 4 seeds go the the top ranked conference champions (automatic bids). The rest are lower ranked conference champions or at large bids. I think it's fine for now. You'd want the top 5 conference champions in the mix. Penn State was heavily favored to win the game and should have been salivating with the draw they got - especially compared to ND's bracket.
I guess there's an argument if the Mountain West was higher ranked than the ACC, but I think the ACC's bowl results spoke for that.

Boise needs to play an extremely tough ooc schedule for them to ever be considered for a bye again. Maybe for them to even get in the playoffs at all.
Fun game to watch last night. I hated to see Penn State lose to the Crying’s, but PSU had their chances to score more points in the first half and botched them.
Tough interception for the QB at the end. They were probably more aggressive there than they should have been, and just play for OT. Hindsight.
ND is playing well, and might surprise vs whichever team they play for the championship.
Now, what was the reason why the pompous, know it all coach, Brian Kelly, decided to leave ND for LSU again. Looks like he was the reason ND couldn’t get there all those years and not the school. Pretty funny.
